Who's this dude, you ask? He's Stuart Phillips, a hair stylist who charges £150 (around $300) for a haircut — but who's fetched £8,000 to cut one of his wealthy client's hair. He's coiffed the Hoff as well as Ivana Trump, but one newspaper columnist decided to see how a high-priced haircut would transform her looks. Think you can guess which hairstyle he created, and which she'd been sporting beforehand? Only one way to find out . . .

for some reason - after watching some hair cutting reality series on Bravo - i've learned that bobs are more expensive since they have to be more precise....
1And same with shorter hair too. It has to be eprfect, so they are usually more expensive.
2But I'm not sure I like this bob on her. It makes her look, maybe older? Normally I'm a sucker for expensive stylists, but this didn't excite me.
3this haircut doesn't really look all the snazzy on her....
4That was an easy quiz...since it was a hair CUT!
That said, I think it is cute on her and suits her face. And, with her starting hair, he could only do so much (it's not like she starts with butt-length locks).
I like the blue background better in the second pic, and I think that colors my view of the bob. But, I do like it on her, although, I think it could be a little bit more "inspired."--perhaps a little longer, a little more angled, maybe with bangs, maybe with some flippy wavy pieces at the bottom....
Just my two cents, I think she looks great before and after!
5Sorry, I think she could go into any mall salon and get that same cut!
6Sorry, I think she could go into any mall salon and get that same cut!
7She looks older with the bob...she was prettier before. I guess it depends on what she asked for, if she said sexy and young it's all wrong, if she said stylish and professional then I guess it's okay. If she left it up to him then I suppose you can't complain.
8gosh...he could have worked a bit more magic to charge that much...got some voom in there...
9umm that was hard..haha
10She looks much better with longer, wavier hair. The new hairstyle does not flatter her at all. Maybe he does a better job at fulfilling requests rather than coming up with new ideas himself?
11i thought it was a trick question so I guessed the longer one... der
12wow, she looked a lot better before the haircut! the bob looks so... flat and boring. i'd want my money (and my hair) back.
13Ooh, the second hairstyle definitely gives her an edgy look
Very pretty!
14I just figured that the lighting was better the the second one so that had to be the nicer one.
15I think she looked much better before.
16except for the friziness of the curls, i liked the first hairstyle better! The second made her look older and made her face look chubby.
17The before is much prettier.
18I liked her "before" pic as well — the "after" doesn't flatter her face as much. Go figure.
19Not a fan. It just lays there.
20I don't think the cut is all that flattering. I think it ages here a lot.
21ages her* a lot
22It's pretty obvious if they're truly "before" and "after".
However, I have to say this is not a great cut. It's not flattering, and as a bob, I think it should either be completely asymmetrical or absolutely precise to look nice.
Not worth 150, DEFINITELY not worth 8000!(sorry, the pound sign is difficult to use on the Japanese keyboard...grrr)
However, there was a a survey a while ago about haircuts being worth it...I payed ¥30000(about $275) for my last cut, tone and highlight, and the cut has lasted 6 months, looks great growing out, and is really flattering!
So, sometimes, what you pay is what you get...just not in this case, sadly.
23mmm, i don´t like the new haircut. It ages her and it´s just so blah...
24I think the Bob looks terrible, it makes her look uglier and older and I think the color is too dark for her aswell.
25First... a great "bob-cut" is suppose to be one length at the base line. That is not a bob.
That is some terrible Mom cut circa 1978... with long layers.
Did he color her hair too? Wow.
I am just surprise that any hair cutter would consider this cut on her flattering. She is a cute girl with a nice face and good cheek bones. Could he not put a few curls from the curling iron on that cut and give it a little bit of volume?
Then again this girl is in the UK... maybe this sad flat looking cut is the rage there...
26I don't think it's at all flattering. It has no movement.
I don't actually see a 'precision' in that because of the way her bangs lay, it's really like it's against her hairs will. I think of Posh's hair and it seems like a 'precision' cut. It looks right from all angels. This one is a mess.
27i dont think it is styled well. i mean like if her bangs were more sweepy and i dunno i think that the blue background washes her out which is bad. i mean the cut is fine...id like to see it closer. but its pretty not exciting. i feel like i do that haircut, i mean it looks like a shape ive done. but you know its like my bosses always tell me, only 20% of why people come back to a stylist is actual technical skill, 80% is experience and that stylist's personality etc. so i do hope that girl had a super fab time at the salon!
28It's an ok haircut but nothing earth shattering. I've gotten much better haircuts by my girl in NYC. The quiz part was pretty easy too!
29Bella I agree, not everyone can pull off short hair.
I hate how in most "makeovers" they always chop the hair.
30She lookes better with longer hair, much softer.
31i don't like that cut at all!
32i would not pay $300 for that haircut!
33That's ridiculous. I've been looking for a stylist in my area for a complete hair make-over and I'm willing to pay almost anything for the service. Oprah's Great American Haircut inspired me.
But if I paid $300 for THAT, I'd want a refund. No, I'd DEMAND a refund.
34Wow, no way is that haircut worth than more than, like, $20!! I prefer her before.
35Her cut before looks wayyyyy better.
36Horrible!
37I don't think she looks any better.... unless she is running for public office! yuk
38I don't think this magical new haircut is very good for her either.
But the truth is, no matter how much you pay for a haircut, it's going to last the same amount of time!
39sorry but that cut looks like something you could get at super cuts for the same results and waaaaay cheaper.
40I basically agree with most of what you guys have said so far. She looks much better before her hair cut.
And I -definitely- agree with Hautie...this ain't a bob! It's some ugly old lady hairstyle. I think it aged her about 10 years TWT;;
I would have CRIED if I paid that much for a hair cut and ended up with something like that. I'll stick to my trendy Asian hairstylists, kthx.
41got it!
42I do like the final product, but not for that much money. Prices have gotten out of control when it comes to hair cutting and styling.
