At first glance this Limited-Edition The Illuminator All Over Face Color palette from Prescriptives looks a lot like the famous Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. Unfortunately, when you begin to examine the colors, you'll find that it's definitely not as neutral or as versatile. In fact, instead of being wrapped in a pretty faux-leather gunmetal case, I think it should come with a a warning label that reads:
The shimmer strips are so sparkly that it's hard to make an excuse for why you would wear heavy gold all over your face, but if you can separate the colors with a shadow brush, then the lighter shades are nice for your eyes.
Maybe I'm being bit harsh. The truth is, it's not completely terrible, but it's certainly not my favorite palette of all time. For those of you with olive or ebony skin tones, I think you may be able to pull it off, since it contains a bright pink blush as well as coppery-gold bronzers. But my skin is too fair to work with these colors.
Also, I think the price point is fair, so that is why I gave it three stars. I've read a lot of reviews on this product, and I've been looking for someone to commiserate with, but to no avail — so it's possible that my negativity stands alone. Have you tried it? If so, what do you think?

4The colors look very the same minus a hue or two...
5I love my BB Pink Shimmer Brick...not sure about this one. Maybe a little too bronzey for my skintone.
And I agree, Aimee, the colors look SO similar to one another!
6Ooooh dear. Glittery orange is not a good look, unless you're a magic pumpkin. I think I'll stay safely with Bobbi Brown and the guarantee of subtle, neutral shimmer... Thanks for the warning!

8OOoh I was in love as soon as I saw this. It is actually really rare that I - someone with olive skin - to find a palette that contains ALL colors I can actually use. Most of my makeup kits have one or two colors that I haven't touched, but I know I would use all of these shades.
9exactly...the olive girls LOVE the orange...looks like an bomb-ass bronze on us tan chicas, not like a pimpkin-colored mess.
i would use, but I'm not a fan of pallettes....same thing ALL THE TIME.
