Looks like the eco-friendly movement is going strong into 2008, and with results this pretty, I doubt anybody can complain. Smashbox is launching the Green Room collection, filled with beautiful neutral colors for a more refined earth-girl look. Most of the products have moringa seed extract, and with every product purchased, Smashbox will plant a moringa tree in a developing country. (The tree can feed people with its leaves and fruit.) Plus, all of the packaging is biodegradable or recyclable — as it should be, I think. (I'd also like to see a "green" collection do away with unnecessary cardboard box packaging, but maybe I'm just crabby.)
Anyway, the colors are light and pretty for Spring. For a description of the products in this collection, read more.
Hybrid 2 in 1 Luminizing Primer ($32) has two tubes of product in one container: Artificial Light luminizer in the inner tube, and Photo Finish foundation primer in the outer tube. The idea is to mix the two products together, then wear them alone or under foundation. I haven't checked this out yet, but I'm not a huge fan of this kind of packaging — it's just too hard to get both formulas out evenly. We'll see.
Green Room Bronzer ($30) is available in two shades: Golden Glow and Deep Bronzer.
Green Room Eye Shadow Quad ($32) contains four colors per compact. Bamboo features bronze, dark brown, shimmery gold, and forest green shadows; Blossom has pale pink, earthy brown, shimmery pearl, and soft bronze shadows.
Hybrid 2 in 1 Color & Shine Lip Gloss ($19) has a clear gloss on the outside and color on the inside. Again, I've had bad luck with this kind of packaging before, so let's hope it goes on evenly. It's available in three colors: Marigold (golden shimmer), Pink Lily (sheer bright pink), and Azalea (rosy bronze).

Awesome! I'm really interested in using eco-friendly cosmetics. Plus, I love the natural colors and Smashbox is a great brand.
1I love the Blossom Quad colours! I'll have to go check it out.
I'd also like to see the packaging reduced - I don't think you're being crabby! It's usually 100% unnecessary!
2This is great...
3This is great. I love Smashbox.
4nothing's greener than mineral makeup.
just sayin.
5i saw this collection at sephora and i wasn't too impressed with the lip gloss i tried. i wasn't sure how or if i was getting both the color and the clear gloss; the color of whatever came out wasn't great for me. however the eyeshadows looked pretty, i would definitely try them.

7Uhm... this thing just deleted the rest of my comment. I completely agree - all the cardboard packaging is unnecessary in the extreme. I always recycle it, but it would just be easier if there wasn't any.
I really like the Bamboo quad - I wear colors like that on a daily basis, so I might get one just for the convenience.
But I also haven't had great luck with hybrid formulas - I don't really see the point, either, to be honest.
8I have the Blossom quad and the lipgloss in azalea...I love both! The eyeshadow is silky and glides right on, and the gloss gives just a bit of color and shine, isn't sticky, and tastes great! I did, however, return the primer because it just made my skin look blotchy. I was hoping for more shimmer from it, but it kinda looked like a bad fake tan. I'll probably pick up the bronzer next though!
9I'll definitely try the 2 in 1 luminizing primer. My normal routine is to mix the artifical light with Philosophy's clear foundation so its the same idea but in 1 product. I love the fact that they are becoming more eco-friendly. I know they were cruelty-free but thats the icing on the cake. I most likely will try their eye shadow's and lipglosses too.
10I love this ! I am a very big fan
