Paging Mr. Spock! Too Faced Cosmetics has just launched an out-of-this-world, baked eye shadow called Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow ($19.50). Available in four colors, each one has a black base and contains swirls of contrasting iridescent bright colors. They can be worn wet or dry and they are supposed to give off the feeling that light is leaping onto your eyes from all angles.

While the concept and the futuristic silver packaging are unique, I found application to be a bit complicated. It really requires you to pay close attention to where you are sweeping your brush — get carried away and you'll have black where you want blue! On skin, the shades appear mostly black, with a slight sheen of color that shows up in the light. I think they'd work really well as eyeliner or with a dramatic smoky eye, but using them takes some practice.
For a full description of all four colors, read more
- Deep Space is a black-based shadow with cobalt blue flecks.
- Super Nova is black with peach and pink accents.
- Moon Beam is black with light-green swirls.
- Shooting Star is black with gold shimmer mixed in.

Interesting...I must try it out!
1They look nest but I'd probably never buy them. Remind me of cheap little girl makeup.
2*neat
3Sounds kind of cool!Maybe.
4Gorgeous! I love Too-Faced shadows, they're really good quality.
Love MoonBeam.
5Those are almost too pretty to use. I would probably just put them in a shadowbox and light them for house guests to see.
6I saw those in the latest Elle, they look interesting but could be bad if done improperly.
7yawn, just another eyeshadow
8They're very pretty, but how stupid to use only black as a base. Black is a ridiculously hard shadow color to work with, especially for very pale girls like me.
They'd have been better off taking a cue from MAC and using gold or white as a base.
9those are sooo pretty! but i bet they wouldn't look that amazing on...
10Oooh. I'm hypnotized by the swirls
11They look too complicated for me. You use a brush with those?
12So pretty! I think I'd end up looking at them more than using them, though. Still, you never know 'till you try, right?
13My husband even saw the pic and asked "OK, when do we go to Sephora?"
These look quite cool, but I don't think I'd wear them - they look like they could go quite badly if you don't apply them correctly, or if you wear them for the wrong occasion. But my inner BPJ wants to play with them anyway
14(I apologize for being THAT person...but it was MR Spock on Star Trek...Dr. Spock was the guy who wrote baby books back in the mid-century. I did get a giggle out of an image of an older man in a white coat, instructing a new mother on the correct way to make a newborn look sultry.)
15/geek off
Wow...as if I could love Too Faced any more!!! Gorgeous...can't wait to try 'em!
16I'm going to try this. It's so pretty.
17Another dimension!
18This makes me **Oooohh** in wonder!
19THanks, rachi99—you're right. My geek sensors are off these days.
20Ooh, I actually really like these. I would probably get one to use as an eyeliner...
21It looks cute in the container, but I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with it.
22I would definitely use a brush (maybe MAC's 266) and use these as an eyeliner. The colors are way too dark to use as an all-over color, and if you're a novice, I might stay away. Definitely have a look at them next time you're out shopping — the packaging and design of the whole thing is gorgeous.
23so pretty....i love black shadow as liner, and the extra color makes it even better!
24Ha, nice Beastie Boys pun. I'm very curious to see what these look like on.
25Those look awesome!
