Last month I mentioned that Cargo is coming out with blu_ray, a new collection of makeup specifically intended for people who have to go on high-definition TV broadcasts. Because HDTV is so much sharper than regular television, it has the unfortunate tendency to display every pimple, scar, wrinkle, and imperfection in glorious detail. Hence the demand for makeup that provides full coverage without looking cakey.
blu_ray attemps to solve this problem by using irregularly sized particles to diffuse and soften light, along with pigment that reflects light from different angles. The collection includes a liquid mattifier ($24), oil-free pressed powder, mascara ($20), a peachy pink blush/highlighter ($27), and mint-infused lip gloss quad ($29). Each product can be bought separately, or if you can't get enough of them, they're available in a good-value set ($59). It's not the biggest collection Cargo's ever done, but it's the first makeup I've seen that's specifically being developed for a new television technology.

OMG, I love Cargo! I'm so checking this out...
1Uhm. Lame. I hate gimmicky make-up. Maybe I should try it before I speak though, if it gets the results it says it does I'm into it.
xoxo
2I think this is awesome! When I first started watching a lot of my favorite shows in HD, I was shocked at the difference --- and how poorly the make-up held up. Hopefully this catches on!
3Neat but I'm not going on TV anytime soon so I'm not going to go buy anything like this...
I get the point of it but why invest in something that may be a fluke...
4Not a bad idea. I definatly notice a difference from high-def to normal TV. You can REALLY notice people's skin and their impurities. I wonder if this make-up will actally make a difference!
5I don't see why I would need this since I'm not going to be in hi-def anytime soon...
6It's a cool concept but nothing that I need right now.
7I think it's great that they've made this makeup, I hope it works, but I really dont understand why they're marketing towards people who aren't on tv haha
8i was thinking thesame thing tralala
9This is a really cool idea - although it may not be something everyone needs, I still really like the fact that they've done it. I'd definitely be interested in checking out the mattifier though - if it does what it says it should do, it's MINE!
10Cargo should send this product to Pam Anderson, I've heard high def is not kind to her......lol
11Looks pretty
12I would love to try the pressed powder! especially since it's not that expensive for a good quality powder...Sephora's all out of stock though...sigh. The mattifier sounds really good too, i may try that once my pockets are a little fuller than empty (which is now). I dont see how lipgloss looks different on high def. tv's though...
13I'm very curious about the mattifier...my skin is crazy oily and have yet to find a good mattifier.
14Love cargo .. interesting stuff right there!
15While I don't plan on being in hi-def anytime soon, I'm very interested in the blush. Reminds me of Nars Orgasm which I like and is there any more hi-def than live and in person . . . hee hee!
16I could never miss an opportunity to talk about Cargo, especially the blu_ray line.
17I work for Sephora so before these products were launched we had the training and learned how it works.
Their motto is that "Life is in high definition" and I have to agree. This makeup is made for everyday use because there is nothing closer than people looking at you face to face. This makeup is very finely ground and feels extremely smooth to the touch.
I wear all of these items on an everyday basis and the blush has become my most favourite blush, I sell it to clients on an everyday basis in my store because it is a flattering shade for everybody from fair skintones to dark.
I find the makeup looks like it is airbrushed on because of its fine texture which makes it look even more natural as it all blends together very nicely.
I use the powder with a big brush just to set my liquid foundation but you can also buff it on and it does provide some sheer to medium coverage.
I would definately give these products a try, you'll be surprised as I was.
I tried the pressed powder over the weekend for my engagement photos because I had a free sample...I used it over my bare minerals just in my t-zone where I am very very oily and to my surprise over 8 hours later I was barely oily at all...I am seriously considering switching to this completely after I try it alone if it has the same oil absorbing effect
