Some of you might remember a brand from the '80s called Salon Selectives. It was one of the first mass-market haircare lines to promise salon style and results at an affordable price. However, after a buyout and brand redesign in 2001, the line suffered and had to be pulled from shelves.
But lucky for us, the line has been revived and is about to hit the shelves at a Rite Aid near you. This means we can expect the same fun, bright packaging with the original salon-quality formulations, expanded to include products that moisturize, curl, add volume, and all the rest of that good stuff we've come to expect. The product I'm most excited to try is "Fresh Hair," which promises to be a "Febreeze for the hair." It's supposed to add a fresh scent without weighing down the hair. With prices for the line ranging from just $3 to $4, I plan on picking it up and giving it a whirl. What about you?

Wow - I hadn't thought about this stuff in ages.
2When I think of Salon Selectives I think about being 4 or 5 and squeezing out all the mousse in my mom's SS can because I wanted to look like the girl in the commercial...once it hots shelves I think I'll definitely give it a whirl once again.
3I used to love Salon Selectives. Can't wait to try it again after so many years!!
4Yes! I remember this is what my mom always used!
5i used to use this, i loved the scent. makes me feel kinda old!
6I remember the scent more than how it made my hair feel. I wonder how close to original formulations it is??? think its still the same great saloon quality? i'll definatly give it a whirl!
7I used to love this stuff!
8I remember salon selectives. I used them for a long time.
9Um that is so weird I was thinking about Salon Selectives in the shower this very morning.
10Salon Selectives, looks like you just stepped out of a salon
11My friend Heather and I were obsessed with Salon Selectives! The produtcts smelled like apples.
I remember using half a bottle to keep my big bangs in place...haha.
12i'm with you guys above- i loved the scent!! and i totally used salon selectives- i will definitely check it out!
13dang, I remember that stuff!
14I remember the Summer after graduating from HS, using Salon Selectives shampoo and Spirit soap ("Take 3 soaps, put em in one soap, that's the Spirit, that's the Spirit!"). They both smelled so good!
15I used this back in the day with my collection of Finesse and Pantene as well.
16Ohhhh man, I used to use this stuff. I can even remember the way they sang the brand name in the ad. "SA-lon Se-LECT-ives!"
17I remember when it first hit the stores, I worked at a grocery store and I had to stock it. Of course I had to smell it and it smelled like apples!! I bought some that day and used it for years!
18I remember that commercial!! That's so awesome they're bringing this back, I used to love Salon Selectives when I was young. It smelled so yummy
19That Febreeze hair thing sounds great!
20omg
i so remember these...i look forward to the new ones coming out..
also I agree with BuzzSugar on the exact way in which the name of the brand is said
21i used to love this stuff!!! i'm totally buying it when i see it!!
22Oh wow! That brings me back!
23Oh wow! That brings me back!
24I'll stop and smell it but, like I said before, I'm a shampoo snob. I can really REALLY tell the difference in a cheap shampoo. But who knows if anyone else can?
xoxo
25You just made my day! I used Salon Selectives for so long, then it just disappeared, and I couldn't find it anywhere. I've been trying different shampoos ever since, but still haven't found a decent replacement.
I hope they really do keep the scent the same.
26Ha! They should just rerun this commercial, since both Salon Selectives AND shoulder pads are both coming back!
27(I loved the smell of this, too.) This and Stiff Stuff made me smell all appleicious with the mall hair.
i remember this from when i was a kid, and yes i remember the song salon style, salon selectives, salon hair, salon selectives.
28I loved this line so much! I'll be showing my support by buying a dozen bottles. Thank you for this post!
29I used to love this line - I felt so sophisticated when I used it. I'll definitely try it out when I come across it.
30Like the other posters, I'm excited for the apple scent too- I liked it much better than the Aussie grape smell. Seriously, I did- I'd totally buy it again if the hairspray had the original scent. They changed it when they reformulated it, and it was never the same.
Oh, the memories...
31Bella, do we know whether this was animal-tested?
32So funny - as soon as I saw the headline for this post the first thing that popped into my head was the "Sa-lon Seleeectives!" jingle!
33Did you all know that some of the new Salon Selectives products are already available on drugstore.com?
34I remembered this and was looking for it a couple of years ago! It smelled like strawberries...mmm.
35Okay, Salon Selectives: I choose to be my most beautiful! (Wait, is it that easy?
)
36OMG!! I remember I used this stuff all in my junior high. I remember that everybody would envy my curls so well formed and put all together. Curls were so smooth and silky, that I always say my hair was virgin at that point. No frizzy, messy hair in my hairdo!!... After graduation and during my transition to high school, my hair started to suffer the effects of other heavy-alcohol products I used as a replacement to SS, and since then my hair has never been the same. It even got thinner!! I'm 30 now, and would definitely buy a dozen of Salon Selectives mouses and products as soon as they put them back on market!!
