With murmurs of a recession and increasing prices being the talk of economists these days, I thought I'd point out a little bit of not-so-thrilling news. Looks like Stila is raising its prices a bit, which makes me feel old because I remember when its eye shadows were $14. Now they've gone from $16 to $18 on Stilacosmetics.com — and a few other products, such as Lip Glaze, are nudging up a few bucks as well.
The good part: The prices haven't jumped everywhere yet. I'm not sure if this bump is going on in stores as well, but the change hasn't happened on Sephora.com or Ulta.com — so if you've been meaning to stock up on a bunch of products, choose your shopping website wisely. Additionally, Stila's own site is having a Winter sale and Ulta has a bargain-priced best-of set.

I hope not.
1Make-up is expensive enough already!
Bummer!
2This is just ridiculous. I love Stila shadows (I'm addicted to "Sun"), but to be perfectly honest, there are many drugstore shadows that will do just as well. It's frustrating to spend over 70 bucks on a quad palette. I doubt that I'll be replacing my pans when I finish them, (okay, except for "Sun.")
For anyone looking for a replacement, try out Revlon 12 Hour Colorstay shadows are pretty awesome, as finely milled as Stila. They tend to be true-to-pan, but slightly less pigmented than Stila. Plus, one quad is the same price as a pan of Stila. Grrr.
For me, makeup is a fun luxury, but I'd rather keep the cost down so I don't feel guilty for playing with color. 20 bucks for pan, container, and tax is just nuts.
3I agree, davisdavis. I forgot about the pan costing $2. Ugh.
4I think Stila eyeshadows just might be worth that extra couple of dollars. I would love to pay less though.
5Ugh! I'll have to wait until they have their warehouse sales now. Unless I really 'need' something.
6i really want the best of stila set, i love ulta!
7When a company raises their prices, all it tells me is they are not selling enough to make the profit they need. That's the problem between drugstore and specialty store cosmetics. If Stila was more easily available and sold in more places, they wouldn't need to raise the price.
I
hate when prices are raised...
8That's too bad, their products are already overpriced in my opinion...at least they're worth it.

Not cool. It doesn't bode well for the company though, I agree... if they have to raise
prices, it means they aren't getting enough profits, and raising prices, especially when there's an economic downturn, means that people are less likely to buy them.
10I just got two of those Ulta sets...definitely worth it. But yes, it sucks that they're raising prices.
11No, not my Stila! They're pretty much my favorite brand. This stinks
12Nooo. Oh well. I don't mind paying a few more bucks for the products I love. Mind you, it still isn't cool.
13Yikes! I love Stila but if these prices increases keep happening I may have to find loyalties elsewhere....
14A couple of BUCKS?? Not for me, thanks. When mine is used up, I'll be switching brands. I will miss my lip glaze, though...
