When a sparkling gourmand fragrance is set to be launched, as is the case with Prada's new Candy L'Eau, it makes sense that director Wes Anderson, known for his quirky-cool aesthetic, would be involved. This week, the Internet has been abuzz with delight thanks to the premieres of three Anderson-directed shorts dubbed Prada Candy L'Eau. Codirected by Roman Coppola, the films star French actress Léa Seydoux of Midnight in Paris and Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol fame. We're promised "a real tale in three episodes that encompasses Candy as the most sparkling and unexpected character," and that's just what we get.
As you would expect, the series has the perfect amount of eccentricity woven throughout, with a hint of sweet and sassy thrown in for good measure. And as with any Wes Anderson film, no detail goes unnoticed, from Seydoux's nail polish choices — Essie's Flawless is featured prominently in episode one — down to her unabashed taste for sweets. Prada Candy L'Eau, a playful, seductive scent, includes notes of Italian citruses, sweet pea, benzoin, white musk, and caramel. Look for it out next month in stores, and now, take a look at Anderson's charming foray into beauty.
If you have a whirlwind schedule like Saoirse Ronan, who has been making the rounds to promote her movie The Host, it's important to know how to easily transition your look from day to night. The actress showed off her penchant for quick changes yesterday, taking her hair and makeup from an appearance on SiriusXM radio during the day to a screening of her film at night. And to achieve her look, all you need to do is follow two easy steps.
For the daytime, Saoirse opted for a classic low bun with champagne eye shadow, minimal eyeliner, and a peachy lip. But for her night look, she kicked things up a bit. Saoirse used her bun to her advantage and shook out her updo to reveal beachy, sexy waves. As for her makeup, she simply added a thick line of blue metallic liner around her eyes and added some gloss to her lips. The transition was quick, seamless, and amazingly easy to mimic, so you'll never be left without an event-appropriate look again.
Natalie Dormer put the smoke in smoky eye last night at the Game of Thrones Exhibition opening. By choosing lighter shades of brown and gray over black, she enhanced the color of her bright blue eyes. To get a similar look, use the shades in the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trio in Almond Satin ($6) up to the crease and under the lower lash line, too. Blend the darker shades in the outer corners and the lighter hue in the inner eye. What really distinguishes this smoky eye from the rest is the dark black liner. Use a waterproof pencil like Stila Smudge Crayon ($22) in the waterline, lash line, and tear duct. The inky addition gives edge to an otherwise soft look. Natalie finished off her red carpet look with a sheer pink blush and lipstick.
