"We wish no ill will toward this fellow American manufacturer, but need to seek a fair and accountable solution to this incident," American Apparel spokesman Ryan Holiday told the New York Post. Forsythe, sounding oddly like Dave Eggers, called the allegations "a suspense-novel-worthy chain of melodramatic alleged events." Jan 24 2011 Explosive news came from American Apparel today. No, seriously: some of the made-in-the-USA brand's nail polishes were actually exploding on the shelves. American Apparel is suing Long Island-based Forsythe Cosmetic Group, who manufactured the nail polish, claiming that defective bottles exploded on store shelves before being pulled. The $5 million lawsuit also accuses Forsythe of scamming "tens of thousands of dollars" upon discovering that American Apparel had chosen a new supplier.
