This scene from Roman Holiday is one of the most charming ever, as Audrey Hepburn's character, Princess Ann, liberates herself from her stuffy, regal lifestyle. Watch as the expressive and flirtatious Italian barber ("Off, off, off!") takes her hair from below the shoulder to this iconic wavy pixie. It all makes me want to go for a gelato run on a Vespa. ABSOLUTELY. I think cutting your hair (even if it's just a trim) is the most rejuvenating thing! I'm all for it!

Absolutely. I had long hair my entire childhood, and I was so giddy when I first got it chopped to chin length. The most liberating was when I went to Aveda and let them chop all of it off into a bowl-shape cut above my ears ... very Audrey Hepburn. It was so liberating, and it made me feel feistier. I can't wait to get through all my obligatory post-wedding appearances so I can chop it all off again!

Yes ~ I cut my hair short - not super short but a shorter layered cut - at the beginning of high school (dangerous territory..I know). I just felt like I needed a change because I had never really "done" anything to my Afican American ethnic hair, including dye and cutting etc. I took the leap and loved it! My hair has grown out - I just turned 26, but I have been thinking of getting a shorter cut for a while now as soon as I find one that I love.

Absolutely! I had long hair my entire life. After a bad breakup where I got dumped and completely heartbroken, I cut it off into a chin length bob. I had never gotten so many compliments and it really made me feel better about myself.

I've done this a couple of times and I always love it! It's kind of my thing, cut the hair short, then let it grow long, then cut it and donate the hair to Locks of Love. I think that it's very liberating and that everyone should go pixie short at least once in their life.

I also had very long hair (blonde) and was tired of being treated like an airhead, so off it came. All of it. It was used to make cancer patient's wigs, and I really did feel totally free. Nobody recognized me at all, not even my parents. I didn't look so great bald, but I liked it short, and it's been short ever since (nearly 20 years!)

Absolutely. Great story Post. I had long hair down to my waist. My parents never would let me cut it, or take me to the salon. My mom would cut it herself if it needed a trim. When I was 16 and had a license and a car, I stopped by a salon on my way home and cut my hair to a chin length bob. I probably cut 2 1/2 feet of hair off - I remember feeling like my head was so light without all that hair! My friends and parents cried. A few years later I decided to do Mia Farrow's pixie in Rosemary's Baby. I haven't looked back since. My parents still lament over the fact that I don't have long hair.

but of course! this is the thing to do guaranteed to lift my mood and get my life going last year, i started the new year with a new do: an awesome mohawk. it ended my depression for a lil while, i even got a job because of it. and the year started good, but it ended-up being THEWORST year of my life.

No. Every time I cut my hair short for a "change" I instantly regret it and hate it. I just don't feel feminine without my hair at least shoulder length!

I think changing hair can be very liberating. 2007 was a horrible year for me and in December, right after my last final of the semester, I went to the salon and said, "chop it all off. I want a pixie." A super short gamine cut was an idea I'd always toyed around with, but I was too scared I'd look manly or something. But that year was just so horrible and I wanted to start 2008 off completely new and fresh, so I figured if it looked terrible it would grow back and no harm would be done. It felt amazing afterwards and guess what? Over two years later, I'm still rockin' the short hair :)
