Sophia Loren has been gracing the silver screen for upwards of five decades with her voluptuous figure, toothy grin, flawless Italian skin, and mesmerizing eyes. Born in Rome in 1938 on the cusp of WWII, her early years were spent in the war-torn town of Pozzuoli, hiding in bomb shelters and helping her mother and sisters care for injured soldiers. She fell deeply in love with acting at age 11 during Hollywood movie night at the only theater in town.
Her big break came when she was pulled off the floor at a nightclub to compete in the Miss Roma pageant, where she not only took second place, but captured the eye Carlo Ponti, a prominent film producer of the day. Despite requests from many directors, Sophia embraced her distinct looks by refusing to lose weight, get a nose job, or alter her appearance in any way for a role. In doing so, she became the fearless and devastatingly glamorous beauty icon we know her as today.
In a world consumed with cosmetic surgery, Sophia Loren reminds us of how striking a naturally unconventional look can be. By embracing her stunning looks and tirelessly pursing her dream, she is the perfect example of a true Bella Donna.

11It's nice to see some some beauties that are womanly and lovely and proud of it, instead of trying to look 20 until they're 70. She was very, very beautiful.
12For real, y'all!
And who in their right mind would change her nose?!
13She one of the world's greatest beauties because of her inner strength, love of life and her devotion to her family. Her image was my very first avatar picture here at Sugar.

18I think she's gorgeous, but I heard a rumor that she's had cosmetic treatment. It's just a rumor, so I don't know if it's true or not.
19I LOVE Sophia Loren!! She's so glamorous and sophisticated and not only classic, but CLASSY as well. From her beautiful skin, hair, face, and well.. her whole package, to her perfect posture, there's nothing not to love about her. I've always thought she was someone I'd love to meet because I know I'd love the person she is on the inside as much as the one I see on the outside and thru the characters she portrays, but you've made me want to even more after reading your bio of her.

24I liked the little story about how she got discovered and refused to change her looks. Why would anyone want to do that? They must be blind. She looks fabulous.
25She's my avatar. She was beautiful then and is beautiful now.
26A true beauty! I also admire that she is a true family woman, as far as taking care of her household, kids and staying married to one man her entire life (even though she was courted by Cary Grant).
27She's gorgeus, unconventional looks are always the most beutiful in my opinion. I hope I look like her when I'm 70
28She is so timeless! Such a gorgeous, classy woman.
