Bella Book: Asian Faces

I've been looking forward to reading this new book, Asian Faces ($24.95). It's in bookstores today, and I have a feeling it will become the beauty bible for Asian women of all ages and ethnicities.

Written by Korean-American makeup artist Taylor Chang-Babaian, Asian Faces features illustrated, step-by-step guides for creating night and day makeup looks. It addresses topics often overlooked by Western makeup artists, such as the best foundations for yellow-undertoned skin and applying eye shadow to flat eyelids. The foreword is by Yoko Ono, who I'm sure has something insightful to say!

i understand the point of this book.as a black woman i have a HARD time finding makeup for my skin tone.

I agree with 'potterlove', books like these are great but they're often garnered toward the stereotypical Asian and not those of us that don't have flat eyelids, etc. Although, I will certainly be heading to my nearest bookstore to flip through the book to see if its actually useful.

I would go "woot" for this but I'm not the stereotypical Asian. I have tan skin and not 'Asian squinty' eyes. What do I do??

SOOO I read this book, and while it has a lot of tips on how to do apply makeup and how to achieve different looks, it doesn't have any suggestions on brands for different products or anything. It's kind of vague. I found the Kevin Aucoin book "Making Faces" soo much more helpful!! I recommend that book for sure.

Very cool! I'm white, however, I have high cheekbones and the eyelids like some Asians (are they called oxipital (sp)?). I would Love to know how to accentuate my features. I've been asked if I have Asian in my lineage but I don't. It's probly Native American from way back or something.

I just read on TeenVogue.com that Lancome is doing a class with her today- That's so awesome for a big company like that to support the book. Also, I got the book today and I think it covers all ranges of "Asian Faces" --From Chinese, Korean, Indian and everything in between. So happy there is a book like this out there--FINALLY!

very cool. I'm all for maintaining clear&healthy skin! and I find some products out there to be too sensitive when it comes to foundation etc etc for Asian skin. Cant seem to ever find the perfect one..only temporary ones b/c once the skin starts to tolerate it..the magic goes away. But yes, I shall add it on to my B&N list this weekend. =)

Hm..there was another book like this a couple years back by a Japanese-American (not sure?) makeup artist and I was very disappointed by it. Hopefully this one won't let me down!!
