Bella Poll: Do You Buy Hairstyle Magazines?

It's time for your scheduled haircut. Do you arrive at your appointment and say, "Do whatever you want," or do you come in with a slew of pictures and celebrity hairstyle magazines?

In the event that I'm experiencing any hairstyle uncertainty, I typically head to Borders to check out the hairstyle magazines section. Yeah, these publications are sometimes a little cheesy and loud, but I've had many stylish haircuts courtesy of their glossy pages. What's your take? Are they truly helpful or truly hokey?

I usually google pictures ... and then take those to the stylist.

I buy them every so often when I need a change. I usually find something I wouldn't mind trying in either a weave or actually cut my hair!

Sometimes I look through those magazines and just want to find someone who looks kinda like me and since I'm asian and most of those hair models are not, I find it hard to find a hairstyle that I can imagine myself in. There is one website that is really great though. www. rasysa .com You can use google translate to translate the website to help you navigate though the site better. I have recommended this site to many of my friends, asian and non-asians, and many of them use it now when they want a new hairstyle. Check it out if you get the chance or if you're looking for a new hairstyle. Some of the stuff is really crazy but usually it is pretty suitable for daily life.

I buy them occasionnally when I am in the mood for something different. They are a little more expensive that fashion/celeb mag's but with all the different styles, you are bound to find a new look.

I've bought them in the past, but they're pretty $$$ for a magazine, and I usually don't find what I'm looking for. I get better results with a Google search. Plus, that's free! :)

I've bought them in the past looking for some ideas on what to do with my hair. I only have 2, but they can be quite inspirational even if they might be "out of style" by now :)

I do a Google image search for the hairstyle I want and print them off as reference for my hairdresser. They may or may not be celebrities, just depends on which photos best show what I want done.

I used to, before the days of the internet. But now, I just browse online to find a style I like. Plus, I'm not really a fan of the overly-styled hairdos that are featured in those mags.

Nope, I used to. But, I would only buy African-American hairstyle mags. Nowadays, I just talk with my stylist and come up with a style to use.

Sometimes however I have had more luck searching online and printing the image out (free too! :P )

It's kind of a hit or miss with those magazines, but I do regularily buy one or two of them, usually to get ideas, or just see what's "in" at the moment and see if there's anything in the trends for me but I did also buy one at some point because I wanted to get some swept bangs, but although I knew exactly how I wanted them I had no idea how to explain it to the hairdresser so I looked for a picture to show them for weeks until I did found one, it saved my hair!

I'll pick one up if I am after a new haircut and can't find a picture I like. Although I have the problem that my hairstyle tastes are extremely conservative and quite often the styles are for much braver people than me.

Yes, but not often. You have to have a picture of what you want done, don't assume the stylist knows what you want just by description. It saves alot of time and heartache. No one wants a bad cut they have to live with for months!

I'll only buy one when I'm ready to make a major hair change. I really need them to get inspiration whenever I'm feeling brave. But that doesn't happen too often!
