For the Newbie

The product: Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector ($11)

The story: Lots of big brands are releasing BB creams for $15 or less, but Garnier was the first to get in the game.

Sun protection: Could be better. The SPF 15 protects against UVB rays (the burning kind) but not as strongly against the UVA rays that lead to premature aging.

What we like: Two shades are available for this nongreasy formula, and vitamin C is a good antioxidant that also brightens skin over time.

What we don't: Octinoxate, the sunscreen in this formula, only protects against UVB rays. It also "may contain" titanium dioxide — which would cover UVA rays, too — but stronger, guaranteed-to-be-there protection would be nice.

@ModernGraceKelly Thanks for the note. It's very lightweight, which I like. But like you, I wish it had sunscreen. Then again, I wish EVERYTHING had sunscreen. I'm planning to use mine at night for a subtle glow, or over my usual sunscreen to even out my skin tone.

I've tested the L'Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier and it sets on the skin. Most bb's just sit there or are very thick. This feels thin, covers, and isn't greasy feeling. I'd like some kind of physical sunscreen in it, though.
