Red lips have that air of old-school drama with a classy appeal — a perfect look for the holidays. I adore Loreal HIP gloss in "Enticing". It's an outstanding/dramatic red. I used to use Goldie cosmetics gloss in "Leslie" too. Not sure if it's still made.

smashbox makes an amazing red gloss called starlit. i layer it on when i want to make a bold statement, and its shimmery, but not too shimmery if u want a more subtle red look, you can apply one coat and then blot, and it will stain your lips a beatiful cherry red (only for a few hours of course) and its only $18 http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2143312&productId=VP12375&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat80060#sku2143311
