If you've ever fallen down the rabbit hole of YouTube beauty tutorials, chances are you've come across Bethany Mota's channel [1], and with good reason. Beth has nearly 7 million followers, the sweetest personality, and fabulous beauty and style tips to share. I sat down with her at the launch of her new fragrance for Aeropostale [2] (self-named Bethany Mota) and caught up with her on all things gorgeous.

Her Best Beauty Advice

POPSUGAR: What would you say makes you a successful beauty vlogger?

Bethany Mota: I would say just genuinely loving making YouTube videos — when I started, I didn’t really have a plan to be successful! I have such a passion for creating content, and I think that's very important when trying to grow your channel on YouTube. You really have to just love it, otherwise it can feel so much like a job because it is a lot of work, especially if you edit everything yourself like I do. I try to make my videos as unique as I can. Even though they are about beauty and fashion, I like to create storylines. I like to film in really cool locations, add cool music, and just kind of create this vibe that entertains people while I teach them.

PS: What’s your best piece of beauty advice, either that you've given or has been given to you?

BM: That I have ever given? Take your makeup off before bed, because I used to be so bad at it!

PS: I’m still bad it!

BM: I'm still bad at it, too. It's so important because sleeping in your makeup is just so bad. Even if you don’t have time to wash your face, at least just grab a wipe and wash your face off like that. It's good enough if you're tired.

The best beauty advice I've been given I actually heard from Michelle Phan. "Your eyebrows are sisters, not twins." I love this because growing up, I was always like, "They're not even!"

Her New Fragrance

PS: What makes your fragrance "you?"

BM: It is very sweet and girly. I love sweet scents — every fragrance that I own is supergirlie. But I wanted to put a twist on it so it also has some musky notes in there as well, which makes it a little sophisticated, maybe appropriate for a date. I wanted to make it work for many different occasions so that you don’t need a different perfume for each event.

PS: What is your desert island beauty product?

BM: I would say BB cream, because it has SPF, it's tinted to give you a little bit of coverage, and it moisturizes your skin. It's like three in one! It's a great skin care product, it can help improve your skin a lot. That, and probably cream blush. I love cream blush because it looks so natural and it stays on in the heat. You can also rub it on your lips — it's perfect.
