Blake's Makeup Breakdown
POPSUGAR: Who or what inspired this look? How does it work with the rest of her outfit and the rest of her beauty style?
Elaine Offers: I was inspired by Blake's amazing rose gold Gucci dress, and Blake wanted a classic yet modern take on '40s and '50s makeup looks. She looked romantic and sexy, and the rose gold tones were so flattering.
PS: What is the standout beauty feature of this look? And what product(s) were used to get it?
EO: Her standout beauty feature is her perfect glowing skin. I used Kevyn Aucoin Liquid Airbrush Foundations in LQ 10 and LQ 13 applied with a Nars #12 Cream Blending Brush. The glow came from Nars Adelaide Illuminator applied high on her cheekbones.
PS: What is something women can do at home for real life inspired by this look?
EO: Women should pay attention to keeping a clean, groomed brow, neutralizing redness, choosing a foundation formulation that serves their skin, and not overpowdering. There are creamy illuminating products at every price point — go for one with pink tone as they look so fresh!
Blake's Makeup Products
Love Blake's look? Here are three of the key products used for her makeup at the 2014 Met Gala.
Nars Baalbek Eye Paint ($25)
Nars Subra Dual Intensity Eyeshadow (available for Summer 2014)
Nars Salsa Lip Liner Pencil ($22)
Whether you have a Summer wedding coming up or just want a fresh way to wear waves, Blake's hair at the Met Gala offered tons of curl inspiration. From the front, it was deep-side parted and effortlessly tossed over her shoulder with tons of volume. The easiest way to create oversize ringlets like Blake's is with big hot rollers, set about four to five inches down from the top of your head. First, blow-dry your hair with a mousse to create volume. Then twist your hair up in hot rollers, and while they cool, you can do your makeup. Take them out, shake your mane, and finish with a strong hairspray like L'Oréal Elnett ($13).
Blake's dazzling manicure is one anyone can create at home. Begin with oval-shaped tips. Then paint them with a neutral pink nail polish like Julep Color Treat in Jennifer ($14) as your base. Add a rose gold glitter, such as OPI Let's Do Anything We Want ($9), around the cuticle in a "U" shape. Finish with a clear topcoat to seal the sparkles in place.
