Part II of my series on bright blue makeup focuses on turquoise eyeshadow. Elizabeth Taylor first made the azure eye famous when she played Cleopatra. This season, history repeats itself and we see all kinds of color-blocking fashions, with cosmetics following suit.
You don't need to be quite as dramatic as Taylor, who paired her bold blue shadow with a dramatized wing-tip liner. But then again, who's to say that you can't walk like an Egyptian if you want to?
Nars Eye Shadow Duo in South Pacific ($31) is a shimmering turquoise and a dark aquamarine powder eye shadow duo that can be layered for a dramatic, edgy evening look or dusted lightly over the eye for a soft romantic twist on the traditional smoky eye.

DuWop Blue Eyes ($26) is a palette that contains five different eye colors (a mix between cream and powder shadows). Three have the same color base, two are metallics and the last is a cream liner. This bright blue palette is a great way to get the blues!
MAC Cosmetics Jewel Blue Eyeshadow ($14) looks especially amazing on darker-toned skin. This is a highly pigmented powder eye shadow that blends well and lasts long.

In my book this is just all kinds of no. I'm sure there are a lot of really artistic people out there who could work these colors. I just know I'm not one of them. These would sit in my drawer until I threw them out.
1I love NARS blushes, bronzers, and shadows. But I don't think I'll be purchasing this one
2The MAC Cosmetics Jewel Blue Eyeshadow reminds me of a green eyeshadow I once had. It was sooo bright!
3i would so love to rock some blue eyeshadow (especially that MAC--it's so fab!), but my eyes are light blue, so i always worry about blue overload.
4oh this reminds me of emily blunt's characters on devil wears prada. she can def pull this look like no one.
5it reminds me of Divine in Pink Flamingoes
6The third one is blindingly bright!
7The DuWop and Nars ones appeal to me.
8I like the impact of a thin line of blue -- but not 1980's style. Yikes.
9I love the MAC color! I would totally wear that
10Again instructions need to be posted to avoid looking like an 80s hooker.
Although I'm also blue-eyed and cannot stand blue or green eyeshadow on blue eyes, so I'm out either way.
11Blue eyeshadow can be worn easily by using it as a liner rather than a shadow. For those of you with blue eyes afraid of blue overload, try doing a thick line of something dark -- a deep chocolately brown or a charcoal black -- and then a thin line of blue directly above it. Double lining is a great trick to add some colour without overkill.
12I have the MAC jewel blue...it's bright, you have to be pretty brave to wear it as a full shadow, but it makes a great liner, esp used in tandem with black
13i have a nars duo with this gorgeous green and blue eyeshadows, but i just picked up the new laura mercier blue palette. its gorgeous, i cant wait to try it out!!
14oohhh so pretty!
15oh, I love turquoise so, so much. it is a tricky color to master; it requires some skill to wear right. when it is done right, though.....
16gorgeous. wearing such colors can be so much fun, just make sure its done right. for starters, always always always begin by making the skin flawless. smooth the eyes out too with a bit of concealer as a base. then of course, make everything else absolutely neutral, or innocently pinkish [essential in preventing the courtney love didnt-know-what-i-was-going-for-so-i-applied-everything-in-my-bag look. YUCK!] then line the eyes with either black, dark brown (looks amazingly pretty with teal) and perhaps even navy. this is important so your eyes dont look washed out or amateur-ish (remember that girl in 7th grade who insisted on wearing blue shadow everyday?) you can either layer it lightly on the lids or go for a bold liner type effect on the bottom lash line, or even the top (but beware this may look strange or unfinished on many people) finish with a strong mascara and simple everything else! let your eyes do the talking. good luck!! xo
17You can't make me.
I hate blue eyeshadow.
18I'm not a fan of blue eyeshadow either.
19Blue is my favorite color I LOVE anything blue and I have tons of Nars but putting the 2 together I'm just not sure, besides didn't our mothers teach us that blue eye shadow was just wrong??? I know mine did.
20No, spank u.
21eeeewww.
*snort!*
Blue isn't for everyone but it sure is for me!
22I've always thought blue eyeshadow was awesome
