Whenever someone says that she wants to look a little more bright-eyed but doesn't want to look "makeup-y," I send her to Bobbi Brown. You will never, ever leave a Bobbi Brown counter looking overly done-up; instead, you'll probably look like a better-rested version of yourself. Bobbi's newest Tortoise Shell collection is filled with pretty neutrals that let you do just that. My favorite item is the eye shadow palette ($60, which works out to $7.50 each), which is all I've used for the past three weeks. It's small, chic, and versatile — plus, sets are available for both light and dark skin tones. No flashy hues or over-the-top glitter here. Instead, you get an eight-shadow wardrobe with colors to take you from day to night. If you're the kind of woman who doesn't know where to start with makeup, well, now you do.
With so many shapes and sizes from which to choose, buying makeup brushes can be a daunting experience. But have no fear, it's celebrity makeup artist (and CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics) Bobbi Brown to the rescue. She recommends the following brushes for anyone's basic kit: concealer, foundation, face blender, eye shadow, eyeliner, and eyebrow. While practically every beauty brand has all of these brushes in its offerings, check out the widget below to see what they look like from Bobbi's cosmetics line.
When it comes to warm weathered makeup, you don't need to go out and buy a whole haul of trendy new shades. Instead, follow celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown's advice. "Summer is all about natural looking makeup and healthy, glowing skin," she says. So rather than load up on the excess, try keeping the focus on formulation. To see Bobbi's tips on getting your cosmetics routine switched up for the upcoming season, just keep reading.
Want a tan without the risk of damaging your skin in the sun's harsh rays? While self-tanners definitely have their place in the, er, sun, you can always simply fake a warm, golden glow with makeup. Bobbi Brown, celebrity makeup artist and CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, has a few tips to share on how to do it right. To see what she has to say, just keep reading.
While Kate Middleton has yet to confirm whether or not she applied her own makeup for her big day, one thing is for sure: the makeup used for the bridal party was Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. In a status update on the brand's Facebook page, a few details were given, although some mystery remains. The statement read:
"We are proud to confirm that Bobbi Brown Cosmetics makeup artist Hannah Martin provided makeup artistry assistance to members of the bridal party for the royal wedding. We wish to respect the privacy of all those involved, and therefore will not be releasing further details."
It does make sense that Kate would use products from the line, as she was apparently seen stocking up on makeup at a Bobbi Brown counter just about a week before the wedding, and the brand's makeup does fit in with the new duchess's clean-looking aesthetic. But as for exactly what was used and on whom (get the details on who was who in the group here), it seems that information will remain a royal secret.
If you could capture the essence of denim, what would it smell like? For Esprit, it would include notes like pomegranate, tiaré flower, peony, vanilla bean, white patchouli, and crystal musk, as featured in its new scent, Esprit Jeans Style For Her. For Diesel, which plans to launch Fuel For Life Homme Denim in June, it would be a woody citrus juice featuring raspberry, citrus, lavender, and dry wood.
But the denim-inspired beauty trend is not just limited to fragrance. Brands from MAC to Bobbi Brown to Lipstick Queen all have products with jeans as the overlying theme. And for something truly fun, you can even wear your denim on your nails with Sally Hansen's Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Skinny Jeans ($10). As always, click on any of the images above for more details.
And soon, Bobbi will launch her limited-edition Dress For Success Makeup Collection ($60), for which 100 percent of the proceeds will go straight to the organization. Look for the kit, which will include a variety of flattering eye shadows, a brownish-pink lip color, pink and clear lip glosses, and mascara, exclusively at Macy's.
Here's the thing about makeup palettes: unless all of their colors are neutral and easy to wear, I will probably use them like crazy for a week, then shift back to my normal "no makeup" colors while the palette languishes in the bottom of a drawer. That's why I think Bobbi Brown's pink and gold palette ($45) and I might have a long-term relationship. The six lipstick shades are nothing bold, nothing outrageous — just rosy, flattering hues for everyday. Plus, the brush is full-size, which makes application easier for Miss Clumsypaws here. Win!
