Typically we either see lips or eyes highlighted with bold color, with the other feature playing a little smaller. But this week, it looks like that rule went out the door: we saw a dynamic duo of bold lips and bold eyes on the red carpet. Evan Rachel Wood and Milla Jovovich both played up their baby blues with powerful eye shadow and punchy rose lips. Even Miranda Kerr got into the mix with a vamped-up look of dark plum lips and cat-eye shadow. What do you think of these looks?

Basically, anything goes! I think we've seen a lot of more neutral looks on red carpets in the past few years, so maybe more makeup is making a comeback. We'll see!

Rules are meant to be broken in my opinion. There are times when a dramatic look for both lips and eyes is necessary if not wanted. I don't understand why people get so hung up on what the rules say rather than just going with something that they like or LOVE!!! =) If you are doing your own makeup, do what makes you comfortable regardless of the rules. It's your face. If you are doing makeup on a client, you sometimes have to go against what you are comfy with and try something new. These things go in and out like seasons so why rule anything out. It's harder to pull off this look for day, but I go for the taupe smokey shadow with berry blush and a darker lip stain. It's so easy for people to say you're wearing too much makeup when it's darker shades, when you're not.

This is nice to see. I've been doing this a lot lately and have been feeling very guilty. It's not my fault I'm addicted to lipstick and there are so many gorgeous smoky eyes out there!
