Bridal Shower Beauty: A Sweet, Polka-Dot Nail Art Look

The following post was written by Sara Bacon who blogs at Glitter and Grace and is part of POPSUGAR Select Beauty. Glitter and Grace features both fashion and beauty content, with an emphasis on nail trends.

I'm a big believer in always having manicured nails to complete my look. So getting ready for events means not only picking a cute outfit and doing my hair and makeup, but also having pretty polished fingers as well. I change my mind a lot as far as my favorite nail looks go. Sometimes I'm big on glitter, sometimes I love using dark colors, sometimes I love bright neons, and other times I just like to keep it classic with neutrals. So for this look, nails to wear to a bridal shower, I went with something fun, cheeky, and super girlie that's hard not to smile at. Check out my simple steps to creating this look — and feel free to mix it up with any other color combo you think would work — when you keep reading.

Step 1:
Gather your materials. I choose a pink (Teddy Girl by Butter London) and a coral-y red (Enuf is Enuf by Essie) with a base coat and my trusty top coat (Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat). I used my dotting tool for the polka dots, but a toothpick would work as well.

Step 2: Paint base coat.

Step 3: I like painting the accent nail first so I don't forget and paint it with the other color instead (learned from experience). Also, in my opinion, when using a dark and light color together, it looks best to use the darker one as the accent nail.

Step 4: Paint two coats of the lighter color on the rest of your nails.

Step 5: Dab a small glob of nail polish onto a piece of paper to dip into with your dotting tool. Then, dot away on your nail, redipping after each dot.

Step 6: Finish with a top coat (wait a little bit for the polka dots to dry so you don't smear them) and you're all set! Pretty, girlie nails for a day with all your favorite ladies.
