Broken Bronzer Plus Nail Polish Equals Shimmering Magic

Hello, world. It's me, clumsy Bella. Try as I might, I've got some broken beauty disasters in my makeup bag. Take my adored Lorac Bronzer. It's so well-loved that it has spread the love around . . . in the form of countless little pieces. Since I'm still holding on to it, I got a crafty idea when Spring-cleaning my supply. I grabbed that bronzer and a bottle of nail polish. What did I mix up when I sat down? Find out when you read more.

  1. I started out with a sheet of white paper on a clean, flat surface and tipped out a couple chunks of broken bronzer.
  2. Since I like glittery polish, but hate the bumps, I folded the paper and flattened out all the clumps.
  3. I made an impromptu funnel out of the paper, added the powder to my polish and shook it all up.
  4. Voilà! My nails get a brand new coat and my old polish is back in shimmery business.

Now that I've completed my trial run, next time I'd choose a lighter polish and maybe mix it up with some of my broken eyeshadow. Three words of caution: Less is more. I went a lil overboard this go-round and ended up with a couple chunks at the bottom. Sprinkle in small increments for the perfect combination.

OMG! I ALWAYS drop and shatter my bronzer into millions of pieces. Sephora sells this great empty cannister for loose powder (think of an empty bare esscentuals canninster) and i put my shattered pieces in there, shake it up a bit, and now I have loose bronzing powder. Clever idea, I'm really bad with my bronzer and blush powders too so next time they happen end up in pieces I might try that! :) Thanks for the tip

cool trick. I would love to see it done with clear polish, like a bronze glaze. skigurl, that sounds like a great accident.

my bronzer was broken in the airport (clumsy baggage people were playing football or something with my luggage and i'm still using it. why not??? it's the same product, just not pressed perfectly anymore.

I thought i remember reading once that to set your bronzer (or anything that broke in a billion pieces) you wet it with alcohol and form it back into the compact, leave overnight, and then it should be back togeher!

Love this idea! My 3 year old dropped mommy's Bobbie Brown shimmer brick on the floor and it broke into a million little pieces! Of course, I did not throw it away - just couldn't - but didn't really know what to do with it. I think I'll try this. Sounds perfect for the just-starting-to-get-warm weather. Love your site!

That is a handy tip. My Lorac bronzer compact looks EXACTLY like that (crumpled bits) and I'm still holding on as well!

funny that you show thisi have another trick which i found by pure accident and i've never actually done it on purpose but i noticed it workedi put on that Benefit tanning stuff (the tan in a bottle that washes off with soap and water) and i got some on my nails (it stains but would have come off if i had diligently washed my hands with soap and directed contact with the nail) and then i painted my nails with clear polish...and my nails had an orangey/copper hue for weeks until i took the clear polish offit was kinda cool
