The New Way to Do a Milkmaid Braid à la Beth Behrs

Last night at the Monsters University premiere in LA, Beth Behrs did a new take on a favorite Summer style.

Last night at the Monsters University premiere in LA, Beth Behrs did a new take on a favorite Summer style. While we're used to seeing the classic milkmaid braid, Beth added even more texture by pinning up two fishtail braids instead. Her stylist Aviva Perea curled her hair in one-inch sections wrapping each piece in opposite directions. Then she used Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo ($5) all over her hair to help add texture. Perea made four braids, two behind each ear. The braids were half fishtail with the ends being regular three-strand braids. She pinned up the braids to frame Beth's blunt bangs and left tendrils around her face to draw attention to the colorful eye makeup.

Her makeup artist, Jamie Greenberg, created the colorful eye makeup with a mix of pink, purple, and burgundy eye shadows to make her blue eyes pop. She started by applying a primer to lids for staying power. The pink shade on Beth's crease is Mark i-Mark Eye Shadow in Luvstruck ($7) mixed with a darker burgundy shade on the outer corners. Greenberg then used a purple hue to line the eyes. Finally, she layered black mascara with YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara in Burgundy ($30). Even though Beth wore this look on the red carpet, it's easily translatable to any Summer soiree this season.

Jennifer Aniston Wants Her Wedding Hair to Look Like She's "Had a Romp"

Jennifer Aniston is known for her fabulous hair, so it's only fitting that it was the subject of a special Q&A with Marie Claire.

Jennifer Aniston is known for her fabulous hair, so it's only fitting that it was the subject of a special Q&A with Marie Claire. Jen was joined by her longtime stylist, Chris McMillan, as they discussed her least favorite hairstyle of all time and how she may wear her hair for her wedding. Keep reading for more from Jennifer Aniston for Marie Claire.

  • On which celebrity gives her hair envy: "Kate Middleton. Does she do her hair herself? She's got a hard job, being scrutinized like that. When I have a bad hair day, my hair just goes in a clip."
  • On her ideal wedding hair: "For my wedding, I wouldn't do an updo, but I think a veil is always pretty. I like loose and natural hair because it goes against the formality of the dress. Loose, like 'I just got out of bed, maybe had a romp' hair."
  • Stylist Chris McMillan on the Rachel: "I know that was Jen's least favorite hairstyle because I hear about it every time I style her hair."

Learn All the Tricks to Achieving a Chic, Dressy Topknot

For seasons we've seen the topknot range from tight to tousled, and at last night's Tony Awards, Debra Messing mixed the former with a whole lot of volume.

For seasons we've seen the topknot range from tight to tousled, and at last night's Tony Awards, Debra Messing mixed the former with a whole lot of volume. The result was a contrast in texture, with the sleek sides playing nicely with the bumped-up-at-the-crown topknot. "Fred Leighton jewels inspired me to create this polished chignon for Debra Messing for the Tonys," said celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.

    What You Need:
To get a dressy topknot à la Debra, Gibson says you need three things: a flat iron with no curves, a bungee elastic (to hold the ponytail in place), and a shine-enhancing lotion (Gibson used his namesake brand's Tame It Shine Lotion ($20).

    How to Do It:
After blowing out her hair for volume, Gibson used a flat iron set at 350 degrees to straighten Debra's strands. He then pulled Debra's hair back into a ponytail at the crown, using the shine lotion to enhance and bungee elastic to hold. Next, Gibson backcombed the ponytail, twisting the hair onto itself. A few hair pins were used to set the style, along with a few spritzes of hair spray. The effect was glamorous, elegant, and timeless.
