Still not willing to let go of your ombré locks? Lucky for you, this ever-popular and universally flattering hair color trend is still evolving, and Jada Pinkett Smith showed off a fresh way to rock the highlights that we're still loving. The actress stepped out back in April sporting a toned-down version of the colored ends, opting for chocolatey highlights that start a couple of inches from her roots. The highlights then slowly meander into full-on color at her ends.
Jada's ombré is still a great option for two reasons. First, the highlights start higher up on the hair, making them more subtle. Secondly, the less-contrasting color helps make this look the perfect transitional ombré. So put your anxiety aside; ombré isn't going anywhere.
Clad in a spiderweb-inspired frock by Topshop, Julianne Hough's Met Gala hairstyle was set to mimic the latticework design of her ensemble. In fact, celebrity stylist Riawna Capri used over 100 visible black bobby pins to secure the star's pompadour updo. The effect was edgy and modern, with the dark pins providing a striking contrast to Julianne's flaxen strands.
To achieve the style, Capri began by prepping Julianne's wet hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Foaming Air Mousse ($5). Her strands were then blown out with a round brush, and a small dose of firm-hold gel was applied throughout. Next, Capri took one-inch sections to create a series of three ponytails on each side of Julianne's head. Loose pieces of hair were secured with the bobby pins in a creative fashion to form a tight style. To finish, Capri molded Julianne's bangs into a pompadour, securing at the back in a crisscrossed pattern. A few spritzes of Vidal Sassoon Extra Firm Hold Hair Spray ($5) to finish lent the perfect amount of punk rock lasting power.
Julianne Hough's short bob is a red carpet staple, and for good reason. The actress proves time and time again that a tight crop can be styled in a variety of ways. If you're considering a shorter cut for yourself, Julianne is one celebrity who's got a bevy of inspiring styles. From braids to bouffants, click through to see her top tress moments.
At yesterday's Kentucky Derby, stars like Lauren Conrad and Coco Rocha showed that the best addition to a big hat is a gorgeous beauty look. Stars came out to cheer on their favorite horses — and they didn't disappoint on the beauty front, either. Click through to see some of the best looks from the weekend.
This week, Zoe Saldana and Winona Ryder showed us why the faux bob is such a great style. Both ladies complemented their curled hair with red lipstick and little black dresses, but the styles themselves were vastly different. Zoe's faux bob at the UK premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness was pure vintage, with brushed-out waves and loads of shine. Winona's style, on the other hand, took on a more modern approach. She opted for tousled ringlets with plenty of texture. There is no wrong way to wear this trendy style, but which version would you rather emulate?
Bangs are having a serious moment in Hollywood. It seems like celebrities across the board cannot get enough of their fringe benefits, whether they're swept off to the side, feathered across the forehead, or just-rolled-out-of-bed mussy. If you're considering taking the big chop and just need a little push (or you just can't get enough of Alexa Chung's choppy bangs), click through to see some of the best celebrity bangs of the moment.
Victoria Beckham's iconic bob is back . . . or so we all thought. Earlier this week she posted a photo on her Twitter page thanking stylist Tina Outen for a seemingly new haircut. Of course, we were hoping it was the return of her iconic asymmetrical bob that was part of her signature Posh Spice look. Turns out it was all a sham. She was spotted today with her long hair once again, but can we just say we're a little biased towards the long bob look. What do you think of Victoria's haircut fakeout?
The lob is the hottest new hair trend for Spring, but now it seems Alice Eve and Nicole Richie are already giving the look an update. Both ladies were spotted recently with full-on fringe to accompany their long bob haircuts. Alice pulled out her brow-grazing bangs to promote Star Trek Into Darkness in Berlin, where she paired the look with a bright red lipstick. Last night at the AOL 2013 Digital Content NewFront, Nicole debuted thick blunt bangs that sweep deep down to her lashes. A long bob plus a long bang equals a stylish match for Spring.
Drew Barrymore has tried every hair color in the spectrum, and most recently she stepped out as a blonde again. The actress was spotted in a warm blond hue that harkens back to her early days in Hollywood. It seems Drew was on her way to lightening up her red-tinged brunette hair when she attended the GLAAD Awards with a lightened chestnut shade. With all these hair color changes, we want to know what color you like best.
