Christian Siriano Shows the Most Dramatic Cat Eyes Yet

There was no question as to who the muse was backstage at Christian Siriano's Fall 2014 show. She was Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn, a model who hit her stride in the late '50s and early '60s. So the hair and makeup followed suit, but with a modern twist. Lead hairstylist Anthony Cole for Sebastian Professional created a low bun that fell into the shape of a heart. "We wanted it to look like the girl was inspired by her mother, but making the look her own," Cole said. "It's soft, but powerful." Hair was parted down the center, then slicked straight into a low ponytail before being twisted into the bun. He added a generous mist of Sebastian Professional Sharper Hairspray (available in salons) so the hair looked shiny without being greasy.

Makeup was also very much influence by the early '60s. Lead makeup artist Polly Osmand for MAC Cosmetics focused mainly on the eyes. She created a dramatic, deconstructed cat eye using MAC Fluidline Liner in Black ($16). After drawing on the initial line, Osmand smudged it and then drew back over it, making it seem like the girl had done her makeup herself. "It's lived-in and rough," Osmand said. "Slightly edgy." A nude lip and some heavy contouring completed the look. Consider this your new go-to party look.
