Trina Turk's a perennial fashion fave of mine — her fresh style always reminds me of Summer and the beach, no matter what season it is in my reality. Thankfully, temperatures are rising, and this flowery bag reminds me of those blossoms I enjoy outside (after slathering on the sunscreen, of course).

The chic makeup bag comes packed with goodies ($65 value) and is free with any $25 Clinique purchase at Nordstrom. Best part? Not only did Trina make this one-of-a-kind bag for the brand, but she also handpicked seven items to fill it up — including Take the Day Off Makeup Remover and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, two of my favorites, too! Act fast since it's only around while supplies last.
Reader Review of the Day: Clinique Almost Lipstick
It's not quite a lipstick and it's not quite a lip gloss. It's the cult-favorite Clinique Almost Lipstick ($14), with the award winning Black Honey as probably the most popular shade. Reader Breesays calls it her daily must-have. Here's what she had to say:
I don't wear much lipstick, but I've been through about four tubes of this since I started wearing it. I like that it's not super-glossy, can be mixed with liner for a more dramatic look, and isn't impossible to get off.

Reader Review of the Day: Clinique Quick Blush

It's always great to find a makeup brush and blush you like, but it's even better when you find one that's put together in a compact package — brush included. Reader SparkyQPublic said that Clinique's all-in-one Quick Blush ($21.50) gave her "pretty cheeks pretty quick." Here's why she loves it:
The brush is generously sized and super-soft, but best of all, it does not retract back into itself when pressed against skin. Also, the brush will reach completely into the cap that holds the blush so I don't anticipate having to break the blush cake to get the rest of it out when most of it has been used. The blush cake has the same texture as a traditional Clinique blush and blends beautifully. I have been wearing Pronto Pink, which looks bright pink in the cap, but blends into a lovely flush and has good lasting power. On the go or not, this blush is definitely worth checking out.

Reader Review of the Day: Clinique Superbalanced Makeup
When it comes to foundation, figuring out which one is the best fit for you can take time. After several years of using one type of foundation, reader Nikisix has a new favorite, calling Clinique Superbalanced Makeup ($20.50) a foundation with "elegant texture." Here's what else she had to say:
I just bought this makeup after using mineral powders for four years. I wasn't feeling the cakey look I was getting with the minerals and wanted to feel more dewy. So far, so good. It gives natural, nice coverage while making my skin feel silky smooth. I stopped using liquid makeup because I didn't like the aftermath of it on my clothes and hands, but this product is beautiful and light and doesn't leave any unwanted stains.

Say Goodbye to Your Eyelash Curler With Clinique's High Impact Curling Mascara
Even though I definitely see great results when I use my trusty eyelash curler (affectionately nicknamed "torture device" by a former beau), do I use it religiously? Not always. While it's a super-quick step to creating full lashes, sometimes I'm more into a "streamline and simplify" kind of mood. That's where Clinique's High Impact Curling Mascara ($14) comes into play.
The new product, which arrives in stores next month, promises to deliver volume and curl for 24 hours. No eyelash curler needed. The self-curling action comes from a combination of lightweight ingredients and the curvature of the wand. Just by wiggling and holding it at certain angles, you are in essence setting the curl. Coming Soon: Trina Turk For Clinique
Since many of you love gift-with-purchase offers, you might be excited about this one: Trina Turk has teamed up with Clinique to design a chic cosmetics bag. Available at Nordstrom from November 5 to November 22, the metallic tiger-print bag comes stocked with a good selection of beauty treats: a cleanser, face cream, mini eye shadow and blush palette, lip gloss, mascara, lipstick and mirrored lipstick case.
The kit is free with a $25 purchase, and the items inside are actually things you'd want. Fab praised the lip color without being prodded to do so, and when she finds out about the designer tie-in, I'll have to hide my bag from her. Besides, she can get her own in just over a week.
When The Cure Is More Than Your Bottom Line

One of the most aggravating things about October is the glut of product tie-ins for the month's Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns that seemed bent on proving that beauty and fashion publicists are creatures who have sworn themselves to the Faustian devil of themed product round up opportunism. It isn't that we don't support the effort that goes into BCA, it is that so few companies seem genuinely dedicated to the cause beyond what public relations they can rustle up to achieve fleeting customer good will. It is hard to feel charitable when you know someone is tugging at your heartstrings to get at your wallet, or in our case, our editorial coverage. Thankfully it isn't all jaded cynicism around here. One set of brands that have truly dedicated themselves to the cause year after year are the Estee Lauder companies. Evelyn H. Lauder, the Company’s Senior Corporate Vice President and Founder and Chairman of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has been a crusader for breast cancer research for two decades now. Their work is a beautiful example of how a corporation can use its size and influence to do well by doing good.

The Look For Less: Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick
Do you remember your first taste of honey? I do, at least when it comes to Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick ($14). Ever since trying the shade in college, I've been hooked. This color looks nearly black in the tube, but on lips, it's a beautiful, sheer shade of brick red. (Think of the color of blackberry pie, but lighter.) It's a shade that flatters just about everyone, and it's super-moist on lips.
But if the economy has you watching every penny, don't despair! I've found a pretty close match to Black Honey for half the price. For the twin, read more
Five Fall Makeup Trends
Keeping up with the trends, especially when it comes to beauty, can have a frustrating keeping up with the Jones vibe. If you think fashion has a fast product turn around then beauty will make your mind reel. One of our favorites, MAC, releases impressive conceptual collections at a pace that rarely allows us a breath. We just finished getting used to Neo Sci Fi and now we are on to Cult of Cherry. Ccoming up with a complete set of perfect fall trends can feel, no pun intended, fruitless. Thankfully, we had makeup artist Junko Kioka to keep us on the straight and narrow during our Five Fall Trends photo editorial. This fall clean matte skin, matte lips, daring to be bare, and if you are very bold, extreme lips and eyes makes a nice top five list. Isn't it nice when the professionals are there to keep you focused?
To achieve the matte skin look, Junko used Make Up Forever for foundation and cover up but unless you plan to actually be in a photo shoot we suggest Clinique Stay True Oil Free Formula. We are also suckers for Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint if you prefer less coverage, just be sure to use some pressed powder to achieve a matte finish. The red lips on the shoot came courtesy of NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Red Lizard. In order to get a super matte look with your lips take a tissue to a fresh coat and blot your lips. Then use loose powder over the tissue to seal it. And if you crave the sultry footballer look Junko used Smashbox Jet Set Water Proof eyeliner. She also used this color pot to do our black lips as well. Though we would suggest if you want to go crazy with this trend to just find a nice cheap Wet and Wild alternative.
Clinique Heads to the Matte For Fall
Fall is approaching, and soon we'll all be transitioning from our sandals to boots, and from our bare legs to tights. Clinique's new Modern Matte collection for Fall features plush textures with beautifully low-key matte finishes that help make the transition from Summer to Fall as smooth as possible. The collection includes four new products, plus a lengthening/volumizing mascara. I'm really excited to try these new additions, as the lip liner and lipstick are long lasting, creamy, and intense, which is a hard-to-find combo.

If you have any fine lines or wrinkles, the new matte eyeshadow just might be for you since that type of finish works wonders for de-emphasizing the appearance of any unwanted nooks and crannies. Even though it's sometimes difficult to sport the matte look without looking dull, Clinique seems to pull it off. The cheeks and lips have a luminous stain without excess shininess, and the eye shadows deliver a soft touch with colors ranging from subtle to deep. Better yet, most of the collection ranges around the $14 mark — not obscenely expensive.
