Common Scents You Can't Stand

What's Your Least Favorite Scent?

I was talking to CasaSugar today and found out that she isn't the biggest fan of vanilla-scented things, which got a bunch of us into a conversation about different common scents we're not so fond of inhaling.

It turns out PartySugar doesn't like incense and I cannot condone that waxy fake chocolate scent (organic and real chocolate notes, though, I love.) It seems like all of us have at least one Achilles' heel when it comes to smells. So now I want to know if there's a common scent you can't stand, and if you have one, what is it?

Sandalwood and patchouli. But really loathe patchouli.

I have tropical fruit smells anything mango pineapple peach - ish smell is the worst!

cucumber melon, eww! it reminds me of stinky feet that someone tried to cover up :( and moonlight path...smells like old lady musk. i also hate that nasty fake chocolate smell! why can't they make it smell real? haha

anything floral, herbal (except basil), honey or anything in the family of chanel no5. basicly i love fruity escada perfumes and dkny be delicious :)

AAAH, TELANE! THANK YOU! I think cucumber melon is so flippin' disgusting and everyone else always seems to love it. YUCK YUCK YUCK. I can't believe I forgot how passionately I hate cucumber melon in my original comment.

My husband hates patchouli and complains anytime my mom is around (she bathes in it).I can't stand rose, peony, sweet pea, honeysuckle, freesia, fake chocolate, and baked goods (why would I want to smell like a sugar cookie?).

Fake vanilla. Real vanilla, yes. Fake vanilla, especially that horrid vanilla lavender laundry detergent? It's so awful.

I hate fake chocolate smells and really strong musky smells. I am surprised that any one could not like vanilla!

I have to agree with Brianna roses and lavender are horrible and for some reason the smell of lilacs always make me feel light-headed my grandma used to pick them and put them in her house and I just felt like I was going to pass out it was so strong and stinky.

Any of Elizabeth Taylor's perfumes (old lady smell...eccchhh)Any thing that is supposed to smell like a baked good (Sugar cookie, etc) or candy (I find them nauseating)Heavy florals (remind me of potpourri)Fake vanilla (Swisher Sweets, anyone?)Basically, the scents I like the best are light florals and fruit that isn't overly sweet or cloying... citrus in particular, especially since that's the one I pull off the best :D

I'm surprised that I agree with a lot of people, too! I hate, hate, hate the scent of: faux vanilla, faux chocolate, freesia, lavender, and I also really dislike any tropical fruit smells (other than coconut, for some reason). The absolute worst for me is cucumber melon. It seriously makes me want to vomit.

LOL- I couldn't agree more Bplasters! I hate poutchouli, and smelling like food is weird. I used to like the smell of Vanilla Bean lotion but I ended up getting ants in my laundry because of it!! Now I can't stand it!

Surprisingly i agree with a lot of others on here, i hate vanilla scented things. Fake vanilla smell is so gross, i've never bought a vanilla candle, lotion anything, and my sister is the same way. Can't stand it.
