Lots of businesses throw a big party when they reach their 10th or 20th anniversary, but luxury French perfume house Creed is celebrating its 250th anniversary this month in its usual restrained style. Originally founded in London by James Henry Creed, the house's fragrances came into fashion at courts all over Europe in the 1800s, and Creed has made fragrances for rulers from Emperor Napoleon III to King Edward VIII and Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco. Even one first lady, Mrs. Teddy Roosevelt, had her own Creed fragrance. Today, Creed makes scents for the likes of Julia Roberts and Kate Middleton.
