This Sweet and Spicy Scrub Makes the Perfect DIY Gift

Don't get us wrong — we love shopping for pretty presents, from palettes to perfumed candles, but crafting a DIY gift has some serious appeal, too. It's creative, heartfelt, and completely customizable. That's why we're totally obsessed with this exclusive homemade scrub from Brooklyn-based beauty brand S.W. Basics. Not unlike the coffee mask they created, this apple pie spice-inspired scrub can be adjusted to the recipient's skin care preferences and needs, meaning it's perfect for your picky, organic-only girlfriend.

Mix Well!

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and stir well. Feel free to add more or less of an ingredient to customize. You might want to blend in more coconut oil for a giftee with dull, dry skin. Nutmeg fights blemishes, a perfect choice for your gym-rat friend (sweaty clothes can cause breakouts). Add extra brown sugar for your friend who loves spray tanning — it'll help exfoliate off extra product. The scrub should come out syrupy and soft, with just a touch of grain. Pour into a jar with a tight lid, and wrap to your heart's desire. It will last on a dry shelf for four to six months (if your friend doesn't use it up before then!).
