It's rare that I dig into more technical hair terminology, but as anyone who's ever talked to a celebrity stylist knows, lacefronts are very popular, with fans ranging from Beyonce to Tyra Banks to — allegedly — John Travolta and Jeremy Piven. Lacefronts get their name from a fine piece of lace mesh at the wig's hairline. The mesh allows the wearer to pull some of her own hair through the wig, mingling real hair and artificial and creating a seamless, natural-looking hairline. Lacefronts can also be glued on, making them secure enough to withstand dancing, running, and a full range of motion.

They say beyonce has a wig collection worth millions!
Personally, I don't really like extensions and wigs in general. They look fake and/or overdone most of the time, IMHO.
I also think that my opinion has a lot to do with racial issues as well, and the asinine concept that black women don't have "nice hair", hence the need to wear these wigs. I'd like to see Beyonce sporting a more natural hairstyle, for a change. I'm sure she'd look simply lovely.
1Beyonce once word micro braids that had a similar look (for like the first party of her career).
2I know woman who wear this type of wig, other types of wigs and weaves and sometimes it not about a racial issue; sometimes people just like to change up their look. I can understand sometimes it's about having good hair, thinking straight hair is the best, or even hating your natural hair; but sometimes it's about changing your look as you change your clothes.
3Yea and sometimes it is about keeping your job.
4Awful, that's all I can say. Ok, maybe I'm square, but I don't see the reason for a young healthy woman to wear wigs, artificial nails etc., except when it's necessary for a photoshoot, movie or video.
5Maybe, I see women everyday wearing fake hair and nails going to school and work - maybe they just hate themselves and believe the hype.
6but faking it is FUN!
7I think natural hair is *beautiful*, however I don't see anything wrong with wigs or extensions! If it makes someone happy, why not wear one??? Europeans don't get ragged on for coloring and perming their hair. Ulitmately the hair on your head should be yours to do with with whatever you want.
8I just got into wigs. I am African-American. I had a ton of long hair when I was a child. When I became an adult it began to thin. I'm in my mid 40s now. In the last year, my hair loss has accelerated to the point where my hair is no longer thin. My crown is practically bald. I've tried to find out what the problem is. I've taken a bunch of stuff. I've even used those colored sprays, which seem to turn you and everything near you into a soot covered mess. That stuff may have even made me lose more hair!
I've had to resort to wigs. I'm learning and just getting started. If I had my choice, I would have stuck with my own hair, even though it was thinning. But it got to the point where I was ashamed to take out the garbage. As much as I hate all the fuss, I like to look nice and have to in most situations. I have to say though, I am quite surprised at the amount of hair pieces and wigs I see being worn by women of African descent. In any given situation, it could be 90% or them in a room that is wearing a wig or hair pieces. I don't think they're all losing their hair. I think they want ease. Some of them aren't even doing it for a great style. Of course some are ghetto fab and want it to be obvious, but those are in the minority. I've also seen more people losing hair nowadays. Even hispanic young men. You can see them with these dime and quarter sized patches of hair loss. What's up with that? What's in the food or the air? Whatever it is, why would anyone go into any illegal businesses. You could make a killing selling hair.
