Do You B.Y.O. Hair Products When You Travel?

I love to check out the new and exciting product amenities that hotels have to offer, but using them is a whole different story. Chancing dry, brittle hair is a risk I don't often take. That's why I always bring along airline-approved bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and even a body lotion with me. I do, however, love to load up on the free nail files and shower caps (admit it, you know you do too). How about you? Do you pack your own hair products when you travel?

if i travel bacxk home i'll use my mum's products (she uses more expensive stuff). if somewhere i have no idea what's waiting for me - my own stuff all the way, down to slippers :)

I never use hotel's products. They can keep it :) But I don't bring my own either. Usually my hotel stays are when Im in Europe. I usually go out and buy the products I need. I've never been disappointed and it allows me to be introduced to some high end lines that I wouldnt be able to find here in North America. Works out great!!

I bring my own, except when I stay at Hotel Monaco. They have Aveda products, and I love adding to my growing collection!!!

I ALWAYS bring my own...unless I'm staying at a Hyatt - their Hyatt SPA products are wonderful.

Always. Lately, I've just been toting my good conditioner. I generally stay @ nice hotels that provide decent products. For my trip next week to NYC, our hotel provide AVEDA products. I have very thick, long curly hair that needs extra moisture and hotel brands just dry my ringlets out besides stripping color.

I never travel with out my own hair care. You can't trust my hair to any old stuff.

This is sorta weird, but I occasionally use a combo of both my personal shampoo and the hotel's :D

For long trips, I bring my own. For shorter trips, I just stick to the shampoo & conditioner provided by the hotel. But I always make sure I have my own leave-in conditioner (Sebastian Potion 9, etc.) to tame any naughtiness. :-P

I always, always bring my own. I'm very picky, I don't like using the cheap stuff because my hair ends up dry and tangled. Some of the hotel stuff doesn't smell very good either.

I UPS my luggage to my destination, so I bring full-size bottles of my toiletries. I do always check the free goodies provided by the hotel, but if it's any less than $150-200 a night, they're generally crap. I use crystal nail files because they're gentler on nails, and I use a sonicare toothbrush, etc. Nothing the hotel gives is usually worth anything to me. Although, I do like shower caps!

I always bring my own products. FYI the Palace Resorts (in Mexico and elsewhere) use Biosilk products. Best surprise ever!

depends on the hotel. If I stay at the Four Seasons you better belive I am not bringing my own because mmm Bulgari smells so nice BUT when I go to my Holiday Inn (Say What!) I have to bring my own.

Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised when hotels provide Aveda products, but I always bring my own just in case. :)

I thought that hotels only offered mini shampoo bottles only in case you forgot your own stuff. I would never use them though, it would dry out my hair/body too much!

Always! You never know what you are going to get at the hotel. Luckily at my recent stay at The Beverly Hilton, they give you L'Occitane which was awesome!

I never use the samples or bring them home with me. I'm extremely picky about my products and I won't use just anything! Plus, a lot of the lotions and soaps that they have cause my skin to react, which is just icky :( And I agree with ur_momm, I think it's wasteful to use them if you're just going to throw them out later.

I always bring my own no matter where I'm going. For some reason, most hotel shampoos seem to just dry my hair out. Bleh.

Absolutely. The stuff in the hotels either dries my hair out or makes it oilier than ever. But usually we're at my in-laws and I feel bad using my MIL's stuff - better to stick with my own, especially since I have longer hair.
