Do You Do Your Makeup in Front of Your Partner?

A friend of mine just moved in with her boyfriend. The other day, she complained to me that she still holes herself up in the bathroom when she's getting ready for work. "It's not that I mind him seeing me without makeup," she said. "I just don't want him to watch me pluck stray hairs and mess up my eyeliner four times before I get it right." Interesting. What's your take?

My Boyfriend loves the transformation and always thinks I look so"fresh' when im on my way to work. He loves when I do the 'cat eyes" its his fave look

It was never a huge deal, I do and touch up my makeup in front of my partner a lot. I just hate not wearing any!

I'm with simbaspaws. If someone is around me when I'm getting ready I will never finish getting ready. I'm very easily distracted. Plus I get irritated because usually the same person who is distracting me is telling me to hurry up :P

I don't usually put much makeup on(mascara and colored lip gloss) but when I do go all out, I'll close the bathroom door and surprise him.

I would probably rather use the toilet in front of him than let him see me pluck errant hairs. SO gross!! That said, the couple times we've stayed in a hotel and he witnessed the application process, he was totally mystified... both by the products themselves and why I was bothering with all this stuff!

I've never given it a second thought. Ever. But just wait until you get older and stray hairs appear on your chin. The husband could care less (it TRULY makes no diff to him whether I'm uber kempt or not) BUT he knows I would be mortified by a nasty hair on my chin, so he lets me know if I've missed one, yet he doesn't tell me when he knows there's no way I'd be able to take corrective action.

My boyfriend and I have lived together for 3 years now and he's never seen me do my makeup, aside from watching me stare into the mirror of a lip gloss pallet, playing with different color blends out of sheer boredom (not quite the same thing).I have no intention of ever doing my makeup in front of him in the future either. Doing so would be like a magician letting the audience see how all his tricks are done, which would defeat the whole purpose and greatness of the very illusion he creates. Well, same goes for the looks we create on ourselves via the art of makeup application. You want people to look at you and see your features accentuated by the illusions you've created on yourself, not the makeup itself. Why spoil the magic of glamor, by letting men in on all of our tricks? -Amanda

In an odd way I feel like its a bonding experience. My bf and I don't do it often but once in a while, when he is showering or shaving or doing HIS hair ritual I will do mine. We don't do it often but it kind of fun once in a while :)

I don't mind my husband watching. I think he understands that it is a necessity for me to look professional at work and he is flattered that I still take care to look good for him.

I do it in the bathroom, but I don't shut the door or anything...he's seen me without makeup plenty of times. And it's not like he stops and watches me while I'm applying it, either.

My beauty regimen is blush + mascara, and occasional eyebrow tweezing. My BF likes to watch for some reason, although I usually tell him to go away. On the rare occasion that I reach for foundation, he instantly starts complaining about how dull it makes my skin look, and then he always tells me im gorgeous without make-up, which is why I dont like him watching me apply my make-up.

I don't have an intense beauty regimen so I don't mind if he watches. He's even told me he likes to watch me, probably because everything I do is so tame compared to anything remotely torturous like pulling out stray eyebrow hairs which I would never do in front of him.

I will do simple touch-ups in front of him, but when it comes to plucking hairs and those other crazy things we do while looking through our magnifying mirror when getting ready-I do that alone!

Not really, only because makeup is a get-in-and-get-it-done thing most of the time, and when it's not, I need to concentrate. Plus, I already have an audience because my cat likes to come into the bathroom and watch me do my makeup. Weird, I know.

I do makeup for a living so they always see me doing makeup in some manner. My boyfriend now though, he loves watching me do my own makeup. He likes to learn about everything. He steals my eyeliners for his shows. (He's in a rock band.) I was absolutely sick last Christmas and he did a smoky eye for me everyday, my normal, because I felt like crud. LOL. He's an artist so it was all good. He always says that he loves that I'm so girly.

its only happened once since I dont live with him, so by the time he sees me i'm already perfect. But when I did do my makeup in front of him I felt like it was a very intimate moment. He looked like a curious child.
