Do You Have High-School Hair?

My aunt has been a hair stylist for over 30 years — wow! With all of the men and women that have sat in her chair all these years, she's come to an intriguing conclusion.

"So many people go back to the same or similar style they wore in high school," she says. Perhaps it's the subconscious at work or the fountain of youth calling. I want to know, how does your own experience compare?

Starting in high school, my hair changed every season, and high school lasts for 4 years so I have about 16 styles I could feasibly be "going back to." But seriously I don't think my hair looks similar to how it did back then... maybe it will when it's longer?

Yeah, but I'm only 21, so it's not that big of a deal. I know what works for my face shape/hair type, so I don't really see the need to change. I'm Filipino/a bajillion other ethnicities, and have long, slightly wavy, black hair, sideswept bangs, that's layered and extremely thick. The only thing was that I bothered to learn how to style my hair in college. I used to be "ponytail girl" and never learned how to properly style my hair until I spent a day trying to learn how to do it. But the nice thing about it is that as long as my bangs are smooth, it doesn't matter what the rest of my hair is doing. I never know how it's going to dry straight or curly.

In high school I had orange hair, green, blue and purple hair, very bleached blonde hair, and varying degrees of my natural blond. It also varied from way past my shoulders, to every choppy, blunt, and angled bob imaginable, to long and layered again, only that time with bangs. Strangely enough I have not had a haircut in a few months and haven't died my hair in over a year. I seem to have gravitated to the only thing I DIDN'T do to my hair in High School.

Interestingly enough I had a bob in the last part of junior high and through most of high school, and just this year I cut my hair (a bob of course)! How funny.

I graduated 6 years ago, and the changes that I've made since then have been pretty minimal. It's always long and the same color I've always had, but sometimes I tweak the style just a bit to keep it fresh, so it's not as "plain" as it was back then.

I've always had pretty boring hair. I wear it the same way every day, and every few years the length and whether or not I have bangs changes. The only difference is that I now flatiron it, and actually, it does make it look COMPLETELY different. Like on Friends before and after they discovered flatirons, lol...

I'm actually a hs student, but when I was about 9, my hair is the same as it now, I had it cut short when I was like 12, and I finally let it grow back out...

I have always had long hair with layers. Nothing has changed really. Its pretty timeless...just like my teased bangs (kidding...)

I have always had medium to long hair. The only difference from high school and now is that I do not wear it curly and 3ft high on top with the big bangs. :)

haha, oh and then there was the fact that all the girls in my high school decided to revisit perms in 2000. i gave in to peer pressure. ::shudder::

my hair undergoes a complete overhaul about 4 times a year. it's been long, short, spiky, blunt, pink, green, blonde, black, and everything in between. generally all the looks i've experimented with are the ones i really wanted in high school. i'm fairly certain my mom used to tip my stylist to refuse them and opt for all-american honey highlights and long layers (boring). in my case i think i am making up for lost time.

My hair is a different color now but its still long and layered. I have had it shorter through the years though but I let it grow back.

I've had the same haircut since I was about 13, it's just gotten progressively longer. All one length, natural color. I'm looking for a new style, but I'm scared.

I dyed my hair a lot in high school and don't now. I do still have the same basic style that I had when I graduated. Long and curly, although I want to cut like 5 inches off to make it more managible.

Good Lord, no. I had terrible hair in high school--trying too hard with the highlights and styles. Ugh. My hair's much nicer now.
