Do You Mind Showering in Public?

I have a friend who just looooooves being naked. Even her husband has to tell her to put some clothes on every now and then. I'm serious. A few weeks ago, we had a conversation about the open-area showers in the gym. She obviously has no qualms or insecurities about letting it all hang out in public — well, in the women's locker room — and I'm just a little more conservative about the issue.

Perhaps it's due time for me to strip down without giving it a second thought. No one is probably looking or caring, anyway, right? So tell me, are you a-okay with being in the buff, or does it all just make you blush?

I don't mind other women seeing me naked, but I don't like using public showers because it's gross! Also, generally I would cover up anyway, because I doubt other women want to see it!

We are (mostly) Americans. It's silly and it's the reason girls start falling behind in math in middle school -- body shame. From now on, I'm throwing out the towel.

Just because you have one (as others have said about everyone having a body, we're all human, etc.) doesn't mean you gotta let everyone else see it. It's called decency people and since when did a person's choice against nudity mean they were "close-minded?" Sounds to me like the same extremism that gets blamed on the uber right-hand side. Lets try to be open-minded to every one's preference, shall we?

No way i can't do it. But I'm not offended when anyone wants to be naked, however, I don't wanna see all that! Just cuz you like to be naked, doesn't mean everyone wants to see you naked lol.

don't like it either...even in the gym...I rather go earlier in the day, so I can get home and shower at home after training/before work. Don't know why...I just don't feel right. *shruggs*

I have no problem showering in public. Being naked doesn't bother me, however I could NEVER sit down on a bench without a towel under my behind because that is just gross.

I workout a lot and I'm fortunate that I live only 5-10 minutes (dependant on traffic) from the gym so I don't have to shower there. First off my gym is really clean however communal showers breed bacteria and things like MRSA! What I hate more is women who do use the showers and think it's okay not to cover themselves or sit down on benches without covering the bench with a towel. I don't want to see your lady parts hanging out everywhere ugh!

I didn't vote because I'm unsure. Will I take a public shower if necessary? Sure, and I'm not particularly shy about it either. But I'd much rather shower alone, to be sure.

Oh, no way! I personally don't care what's common in Europe--I don't care to get naked in front of people, and I don't particularly like to see other people prancing around nude in the locker room (hardly ever happens, by the way). But hey, if you're into that, whatever...

I never use public showers, just because of the germs that lurk there. I also feel really uncomfortable being nude in front of people I don't know, even if I have to strip down for my doctor!

I don't understand the comments about Europe!I live in Europe.It's one thing to go topless at the beachand completely another story to shower naked.I want my privacy when I shower, preferably in a shower that has been thoroughly cleaned before I go in.

I voted on the more conservative side. I love being naked but only in my own home. I don't want to disrespect anyone else.

Ugh, hate changing rooms. I have no problem with the nudity of other people --I go to an art school, I'm exposed to it daily --but I am shy about my own. Fortunately I never have to shower in public.

OMG! in junior high we had to shower together, 3 to a stall! gross! it was semi-traumatizing w/ mean girls snickering if you didn't already have breasts or pubic hair. i find people don't always change for the better and i'm certain some still judge appearances even if they don't say it out loud. uh yeah, curtain please.

most of y'all sound like a bunch of never nudes. I prefer showering by myself, but I've got no problems changing in the locker room or going to a asian style bath house. When I see grown woman changing in the stalls in the bathroom at the gym...I think "get over it, it's not junior high"

no way, i don't know if its partly because im from the britain and im being really prissy, or because i just dont want to look at what other girls have, im pertheticaly prudish about it.
