Do You Prefer to Play Up Your Eyes or Your Lips?

When it comes to choosing a makeup palette, the general rule of thumb is to either focus on the eyes or the lips — not both. But some rules are meant to be broken. Pairing a smoky eye with a bold red lipstick can work, too. What's your favorite way to accentuate your mug: do you like to play up your lips, your eyes, both, or some other feature altogether?

I love the look of a bold lip but I usually do eyes. Eyes are less maintenance (you don't have to reapply every 10 seconds!), and just look better on me than a played-up lip. Plus my guy likes my eyes best, and he doesn't kiss me if I have lipstick on!

I recently tried bold lips and I actually loved it - especially because my eyes looked a lot bigger and brighter because of the lipstick's contrasting shade... But I don't think I'll be wearing this look often because it looks too sophisticated for most ocasions...

Eyes - play them up and you don't have to worry about your makeup again all day! I agree with genesisrocks, and I don't like the way lipstains and long-lasting lipsticks, lip paints, etc. wear. Plus, bold lipstick calls attention to the reddish tones in my skin...and my eyes are aging better than my jawline, so I'd rather keep the focus up there!

I would play up my lips more if I liked the shape of them better, but I'm always insecure about them being too thin. But sometimes I do anyway! I usually do more with the eyes, though.

I look really weird with heavy eye makeup - smoky eyes, colors, etc. Cat eye liner is my thing.

Wow, I can't believe the low percentage for lips! Too much eye makeup just doesn't suit well on my face. I love the classic appeal of a lipstick and have good shaped lips so that's what I stick to. There's just something so lovely and simple about a simple eye and a perfectly colored lip.

Usually I'll do one or the other but not both - and most of the time it's the eyes that get "played up" because I have a hard time finding lipstick shades that will work all day for me. I can wear crazy shades at night when it's darker, but in bright lights, any crazy lip shades look, well, crazy on me.
