Do You Match Your Lipstick to Your Nail Polish?

When I went to college, I noticed that students from the South matched their lipstick to their nail polish. It's what their mothers taught them was the prim and proper way to beautify. I always thought it was a little bit much for me, but they definitely looked more put together than I ever did.

The matchiness made me notice the details of beauty products more, and I started to appreciate how nail polish can be an accessory to complement any outfit. Over time, I find that I coordinate it with my clothes more than I do with the rest of my makeup, though. As a general rule, do you match your lipstick to your nail polish?

I just got a new nail polish and instantly put it on. Then I realized, my favorite lipstick is the exact same color!!!! I was afraid that if I couldn't wear my fave lipstick when I wore this new fave polish. So I went to google to see if there was a rule against matching nails and lipstick. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that some people do it on purpose! Now my lips and my nails can be a pretty coral and I won't have to fret.

I don't normally, and I went to my prom, and my mum wanted me to match my lips and nails, and I thought it looked tacky and gross, seeing as my lips were a reddy orange, and my dress was green.

Matching's not for me. At present I am wearing black nail polish anda caramel colored/flavored lipgloss. (yeah i know its a little juvenile, but it suits me)

i really like blue-gunmetal, dark voilet,and red, and those colors for my lips just dont work,so....... i dont think so

I tend to wear a lot of vampy shades and I usually don't wear lipstick ;)

I don't. I compliment my lipstick to my make up. Usually my nails are pink & white acrylics so it would be hard to match that. :)

My nail polish is often blue, dark purple or some such color [I have a purpley brown color on now], so matching lipstick to that would be quelle difficult.

Yes, Southern mothers do teach their daughters to match everything. Being from Texas I forget that everyone doesn't do this. By age 7 I could match my shoes, hair accessories, and jewelry to my outfit of choice. Since I've become teenager I've been trying new things and if I don't match my mom looks at me weird lol. I don't really match my nail polish and lip gloss though.
