Can Injecting Your Blood Into Your Face Make You Look Younger?

A new procedure called the Selphyl System (self-fill, get it?) is purporting to "rejuvenate" patients (like the woman at right) by drawing blood, then using a centrifuge to separate the components out. Then, the platelets and fibrin are injected back into the face.

Supposedly, your body reacts to the injections by producing a bunch of collagen, thereby making your face appear fuller over time. Results take three weeks to develop and last for up to 18 months, and the procedure costs about $1,100. Not for me, but I can see it creating a lot of interest. What do you think?

This procedure is a total rip off! Absolutely does not work. Had it done 5 weeks ago and the only thing I got for my money was a lot of bruises with some swelling for about a week. :-( Don't waste your money.

Selphyl does not work, it is a joke. I went to a popular, licensed plastic surgeon who recommended the Selphyl, or the vampire face lift. The proceedure is supossed to not have any down time - ha! I had two black eyes with the skin under my eyes being swollen and blood red. I looked like I had been beaten. .I was still hopeful it would work, I had the large pack, or dose, whatever. But Selphyl does not work! I have had no results at all and the skin under my eyes was so stretched out from the swelling and brusing that it is now sagging. I am over 8 weeks in - they say by 8 weeks you will have results...No results. Other injectables have worked for me in the past. I am only 49 so there is no reason I would be an unusual case. Do not waste your money on this product.

I tried this 5 weeks ago in oakbrook I'll near chicago. I still do not see any results. I went in wanting juvederm, instead dr aboud talked me into getting selphyl and some sculptra. What a waste of time and money! I was bruised and swollen for a week. This product is bs

The blood is placed in a centrifuge which removes the white and red blood cells. It further removes the thrombin eliminating the chance of clotting. 9cc's of blood produces 4cc's of PRP. Ever price 4cc's of Restylane or Juvederm? This product is ALL natural with zero preservatives. PRP is used in the NFL for injuries currently and has been used by orthopedics for 10 years with zero complications. You really should research all the facts and see if this really works.

This sounds dangerous to me - don't too many platelets increase risk for blood clotting/thrombosis? Not worth it

LOL Tammy! I was thinking the same thing! Maybe laughing is not the right thing for me to do since she had around 650 supposed victims, but I couldn't help but think it as I was reading this.
