Well, as it turns out, Eva Mendes is too sexy for her shirt. As previously reported, her 30-second commercial for Calvin Klein Secret Obsession was banned in the United States. Well, no doy — there's areola in this clip! (It's not raunchy, but it's NSFW.)
Personally, I think it's beautifully shot (and that it was cleverly created to drum up "controversy") but c'mon, Calvin — everyone knows you can't show certain body parts on the, uh, boob tube. Do you think this ad should be allowed on television, or does it cross that line?

Alexander Wang
Boring in the first place.
1It might be ok on late night TV, but definitely not during prime time or anything like that.
2I think is very ok. I live in Portugal and here we have some ads that are more way more NSFW. For example we have one ad for a body shower that show the boobs of the girl, and this go on tv on prime time.
3Sexy is subjective. I'm not a particular fan of Eva Mendez nor do I find her attractive so....
4The ad is boring in my mind and anyone who thinks this is to "raunchy" is too.
Move to Denmark, for example, there they make movies about old people's relationships and show it on public access.
Sex is NATURAL people.
5Ooops, I mean there they show old people having sex. Naked.
And by the way, why is a woman's naked breast on TV worse than a cut up corpse?
Warped priorities, I say.
6you can see her bare breast..it doesnt offend me but i can see why they don't want it on tv
7I'm with Bearwoman... Why is violence so readily accepted for primetime viewing, but a glimpse of woman's nipple is likely to cause huge amounts of controversy?
8I'm with Bearwoman. Actually I don't really get why this can't be shown on TV; so, the woman has boobs. Big deal.
The gallery where I work has an exhibition on at the moment that shows WAY more than that, and peopled don't care. There's a difference between filming in an offensive way, and just showing a boob for 2 secs imo..
9I'm fine with this ad. Rather boring I thought.. But I'm not sure how young kids look at it. Or parents.
10I find nothing about Eva Mendes "sexy", but I don't think the ad should be played on television. Why would people want thier kids watching some nude lady trying to seduce women into buying her perfume?! What a stupid ad.
11I can see why it would be deemed too sexy for American TV. There are regulations and showing a breast has crossed the line for the powers that be. Meh.
12America is so prude, its not that bad.
13America IS prude! grrrrr... and I AM AMERICAN!!!
14boring
15Duh , they should have known this would not fly!
16very boring
17its ok, it is really boring, but i've much sexier ads on tv. its not that bad
18It's kind a boring ad. I think this would be fine to air at night, like when kids are sleeping. They should have known when they made this ad that it wouldn't be able to get played on tv. All they need to do is airbrush the aerola out or find some way to make it look covered up and the ad would be perfectly acceptable on American tv.
19I like the ad, but I can see why its not allowed on TV. However, if it wasn't for that split second of nipple, I'd think it was fine.
20I must say that was very boring
21they are probably just drumming up controversry and hype for their product and already have a nippless/boobless version ready to air...
22I don't care until I think about my six year old cousins watching this, or the kids I babysat...then it's like oh God no. You have to remember TV is one of the biggest influences on this generation, and it reaches a hell of a lot of kids.
23i didnt see the add. in my opinion, simulated sex (or exotic dancing or mastubating) might be giving the the wrong message. But the NIPPLE should not be the problem.
24The ad is just okay, its annoying how she repeats the same thing over and over. I know that's the stick of Obsession but its just not very interesting. I think its a little innapropriate for TV, especially the part where you can see her areola. I don't have a problem with adults seeing it, but I don't think it should be necessarily displayed in front of young children. Its not that children should be ashamed about their bodies but there are certain things you don't need to see at a young age.
25oops the "shtick" of Obsession, not stick
26I agree with bearwoman 100%. I want to know why it's okay to show cut up corpses but not a nipple.
27I think it's perfectly after a tiny little bit of editing for the nipple slip.
28nothing new here.
But I think it was never intended for TV, these days viral marketing counts for a lot.
I mean think about it..it got plenty of exposure here and it didn't cost him a dime in Sugar advertising.
29Class has been taken to new low. If I wanna see nipples I'll look at my own and corpse versus nipple - well not many people I know get aroused by looking at a corpse, maybe that's the difference.
30Hm I don't really like these types of ads, but I could see it being aired in my country (the Netherlands). There's an ad right now on TV that features a woman sitting on top of a man (topless), supposedly having sex and screaming his name. But then she doesn't say his name but says 'thingy' (he was so irrelevant, so she forgot his name, and the message of the ad is that you should send many many text messages so that you stay popular!) Although you only get a glimpse of the woman, I think it's crossing the line.
31Anyways, im rambling. Point is, I've seen worse.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
32I think these marketing people HAD to include the nip otherwise there would be no press or attention for this bland ad. no way will this get shown on tv in the u.s., the fcc is way too alert after the superbowl thang.
33Other. The vid was no longer available. Now i'm really curious!
34Apparently, it was found too sexy for YouTube, too. It's no longer available! I'm intrigued.
35So what's wrong with getting aroused, AmberHoney?
36You Tube banned it. So, I had to know, and I found it here: http://www.break.com/index/eva-mendes-banned-commerical.html
37But, it was boring and I don't see why you tube took it down. I see why it shouldn't be allowed on TV, but if they edit out the nipple it would be fine.
Nothing Bearwoman - it just appeared that some people were comparing nipples to corpses and I believe it was banned because of sex not morbidness (if that's a word). Like others stated who cares it was boring, hubby said he'd rather cut his toenails than watch that stupid ad.
38theres a special word that should describe Eva in this but i wont put it out there.......she seems like a nice girl....just little tooooo u know......yea.....
39First, I think the commercial is beautiful (note that I find all perfume commercials a bit silly).
Second, are you kidding me? I wouldn't care if my children saw this commercial. Its two seconds of nipple. Sometimes I really hate living in America.
40There is an answer to that...
41And also, why the heck do they use naked, writhing women to sell other women perfume? That doesn't make sense to me at all.
42Actually, it's a brilliant move. People in the States will want to watch it on the Internet because it's banned, as all of us just did.
Americans are so weird about sex. We use it to sell EVERYTHING, yet we act like it doesn't exist.
43Also, on the topic of this particular ad, no, it doesn't do anything for me, and I think Eva is beautiful. The Chanel ads with Kiera speak to me more with the playful sassiness, but to each her own.
