Fall 2013 Hair Tips

5 Fall Hair Tips From Celebrity Stylist Serge Normant

It's time to put away the sun-kissed beach waves and update your hairstyle for Fall. Celebrity stylist Serge Normant (who has worked with stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, and Julia Roberts) is giving us his easy tips to revive your mane from Summer fun, as well as inspiration for a fresh new look for the colder months. Get a trim: "The biggest hair issue at the end of the Summer is dry and dull hair caused by sun exposure and swimming," Normant says. His fix? A good trim. Whip out your deep conditioner: "A good trim is always a must, along with a treatment," he says. "Deep treatments not only nourish and replenish hair, but also restore dull locks with shine." Give your stressed-out Summer tresses some extra nourishment before Fall with a moisture mask like the Serge Normant Meta Morphosis Hair Repair Treatment ($60). Try a shorter cut: It seems like the asymmetrical bob is the haircut for Fall, and Normant is in agreement. "Even though I don't follow trends, shorter haircuts are appealing to me for the Fall," he says. "I'm loving a shoulder-length hair cut with layers and very short, funky cuts." Go a shade darker: "In terms of hair color, darker shades with still a hint of dimension is great for the season," Normant says. "Nothing drastic, just deeper, darker shades." Keep things simple:No matter how you update your look for Fall, the one thing is to keep it simple. "I always recommend to pick looks that work with your hair type," Normant says. "And I always recommend staying away from anything that requires too much maintenance — your look has to fit into your lifestyle."
