They're no dummies, those Estée Lauder executives. Word on the street is that the cosmetics company is courting actress Freida Pinto to have her be the next face of the brand. Both Estée Lauder and Freida's people declined to comment, but I think a deal would make sense: Freida's a rising star with international appeal, and let's face it, she's gorgeous. Do you think she'd be a good fit?

Jaeger
The woman is gorgeous...so yes
1yes! I'll look forward to it!
2shes really pretty, but wow, thats like zero to hero in the period of a few months!! i wish her the best in whatever she does
3Sure...I think she's stunning.
4Yes i think that she is very beautiful and talented. I loved her dress at the oscars, but i think that maybe she is to young and not established.
5Sure.
6I think she's the most beautiful woman ever!
7Maybe.
8yes! we need more women of color as spokesmodels! Plus shes positive, and smart and talented. Everything I want in a role model.
9It would be awesome to have an Indian spokesmodel...i cant think of another one?
10NO!. I can't stand her, so I plan not to buy anything from Estée Lauder if they hire her.
11huh, that's a pretty intense reaction. Why would you boycott Estee Lauder for using her? I would maybe be annoyed if it were for something else, as she's only had one big role (one role at all, I think), but as makeup is part of outer beauty, which she totally has, I think she should go for it.
12Yes! I love her!
Sheesh, eveday. I can't stand Beyonce but I don't boycott L'Oreal because of her.
13why not? she's gorgeous and very unique - I personally would love to look like her (haha, not that makeup could make that possible). as far as her not being "established enough" - who cares? do people really buy things just because they know and like the spokesperson? if so, that seems really stupid - I know and love Heidi Klum, but I'm not going to buy Jordache jeans. on the reverse, I can't stand Charlize Theron or Scarlett Johansson, but I will buy Dior perfume and Loreal hair dye, if I like it. this whole fascination with celebrities and trying to be like them has taken such a pathetic turn...
14She is a beautiful lady and I am SO happy that India is finally getting some representation in Hollywood, so I'd be happy if she landed a spokesmodel role. I just hope the fame climb isn't too fast and that she can handle it!
15She's beautiful and I think she's definitely "deserving" of being a cosmetics spokesmodel, but seriously... what an inconsequential gig.
16It would be nice to see an Indian spokes model, and I'm sure it makes perfect sense given the growth of the Indian market. She definitely has cross over appeal.
17shes a new model who found luck with a small movie !!
No give them to the ppl who earned it n worked hard for it !!
18Well...it's a choice I'd make (not buying a product because of its spokesperson), and that's my prerogative. You guys should respect that -- I wasn't criticizing anyone for not being annoyed by her, was I? I don't think so.
19CocoChic, I already boycott L'Oreal because they test their products on animals -- something that could be done by Estée Lauder too, but I'm not sure about that yet.
20eveday, people can disagree or be confused by your opinions but still respect them. It just seemed like your reaction was very strong, and since you didn't elaborate...
And you didn't mention beforehand that testing on animals would factor into your decision to boycott Estee Lauder (which is a very commendable decision, by the way).
Anyway, I don't know much about Frieda Pinto and haven't even seen the movie yet, but I would be glad to see more women of color in ads. I would disagree to the poster who said it is inconsequential; on the contrary, advertising is extremely influential to our society and culture.
21Finally Estee Lauder is recognizing there is an entire globe outside of the family's 10021 zip code and that trust funded bleached blond, anorexic look. They've been accused of being sheltered in their marketing campaigns for years! They look selling that whole Muffy, Bitsy, uptight, WASP imagine for a longtime. That approach is not realistic and so dated.
As for boycotting company because of their spokeperson or whatever else, I think it makes perfect sense. Think about it, it's your sales dollars that is going to pay for those lucrative endorsements? So why pay for Scarlett, Gwyneth, Halle or Jen's pricey fee is you like them. It's our purchasing power that speaks volumes.
22I don't like celebrities as spokespeople but if they must have a celebrity why not her? She's beautiful, talented and has a great personality.
23Myystque, it was indeed a strong reaction: sorry, but I really can't stand this girl. There's something about her that makes my skin crawl. I didn't elaborate because I didn't think it was worth it...I thought I could just drop some lines to get the annoyance out of my system -- just like many people do on internet boards -- and suddenly I was being criticized for that: my own, and very personal, choice.
I don't like her, I don't want to buy anything she advertises because it's pretty much like Glamorously said: it's our money that pays for these endorsements, it's our purchase power that speak volumes.
But since saying I don't like someone therefore I won't buy anything this person endorses seems to be a big no-no, I'll say what I think about her: one role in one (internationally) famous film and she's "the most gorgeous woman on earth!!!", "wonderful actress!!", "amazing" and hired to advertise one of the most famous brands in the world? Celebrity endorsements take a lot more than just beauty -- and I don't even think hers is that special. It should take a longer, more respected career and a household name, things she has yet to accomplish (but I hope not, since I -- irrationally or not -- can't stand her).
24Why not? She seems cool. Not everyone needs to like her.
