In a horrifying move seemingly plucked from the plot of Fight Club — you know where this is going — a gang in Peru has been killing people, draining the fat from the corpses , and attempting to sell it on the black market for use in cosmetics.
Police suspect that the fat in question was sold to European cosmetic companies, but there's been no solid confirmation so far. No surprise there, say dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. "I can't see why there would be a black market for fat," plastic surgeon Dr. Adam Katz told the Associated Press. Although fat can be used in certain antiwrinkle treatments, it always comes from the person undergoing the procedure. Such an awful story — made even worse because other members of the gang have yet to be caught.

1I think it's interesting that everyone thinks its so horrifying when its human fat, but some of the best selling products have contained animal parts (including fat)for years now and no one cares. Hypocrites.

But no, that's awful. It's always terrible when people are murdered of course but I'm particularly disturbed when body parts are extracted after. People can be so twisted.
5Gangbangers? That's not quite who these people are. A gang is a group of people involved in criminal activity. Not to be confused with the American use of gangbangers to describe similar groups, but usually consisting of blacks and latinos. Just being a criminal gang in Peru doesn't qualify.
This is a horrible, disgusting story about the lengths people will go to make money and the decreasing value of human life. Let's not make it worse with stereotypes.

I've always thought "gangbanger" is someone who's in a gang, which fits these guys. Am I missing something?
