Those of you who have been reading for a while know that beauty supplements and I don't get along so well. I didn't see any improvement with my Borba experiment, but I'm willing to give things another try. Enter Glowelle, a nutraceutical drink from Nestlé. Promising better skin through drinking its antioxidant-laden formula, Glowelle aims to fight the signs of aging through one packet a day.
Glowelle is pretty pricey — $40 for a seven-day supply, and $112 for a 30-day supply. (Beautyfix's current beauty bag, at $49.99, includes the seven-day box along with other products, so I think it's a better way to go.) Each day's packet contains powder that you mix with water; it includes goji berries and green and white tea extracts, among other nutrients.
After adding the powder to water, you'll have a deep berry-colored drink. I disliked the artificial fruity taste (though, oddly, I like the floral aftertaste) and couldn't finish my glass. Sadly, looking at the ingredient list didn't make me give it another go. The first ingredient is evaporated cane juice, which is another way of saying sugar. (Less-refined sugar, but still.) Since I try to avoid eating sugar as much as possible, I realized that Glowelle just isn't for me. I'm not sure if it improves skin, but considering the high price and not-so-yum flavor, I won't find out. All in all, I'd rather just buy goji berries (tasty!) and drink green tea than add a fake coloring and sugar to my diet.
It looks like yet another supplement FAIL for Bella, but I'm curious to find out if any of you have tried Glowelle — and if you liked it. Flavor is such a personal thing, and I'm sure some people like the taste, so I'd love to read your reviews.

The Body Shop
I would be skeptical.
1I've tried it, but couldn't get past a couple sips because of the taste. A bit thick, if you ask me. But since I couldn't get a full dose in, I didn't get to see whether it had any effect (although a friend of mine did say it made her feel a little more svelte). If you can get past the smell/taste, I'm sure the vitamins and minerals are great for your body.
2If you want prettier skin, just drink more water.
3Yihaw10, I also thought it was weirdly thick. I am Buffy obsessed and I kept thinking of Spike having his blood with Weetabix. Yes, I am a nerd.
4It makes me think of the Dr. Brandt Anti-Oxidant Water Booster that I bought once from Sephora...you put a few drops in your bottled water and it was flavored like pomegranate. It was disgusting...couldn't get past the taste.
5Honestly, this products strikes me as a plateful of bollocks with a side dish of foolishness. However, a drink can make you more beautiful to man who has had one too many...
6Bella, I got this in the Beautyfix shipment this time and didn't like it at all! It was awful!
The taste is a total turn-off....besides, I am wondering why I would try to choke this down when I can just take a vitamin supplement instead? (without the weird after taste?)
7i actually had the 30 month pack i got as a gift i think first it's bullsh*t and second the taste was disgusting!! might as well take your own vitamins and eat fruit and healthy who needs coloring artificial crap... blehh..
8Juice of 1/2 lemon + warm water, once a day.
9Works wonders, believe me!
what a load of crap!
10this is sooooo gross tasting. I tried one pack and quickly threw the rest out. ick!
11I've actually been drinking for 5 days now, and I have to say I do notice an improvement. I got a 7 day Pom & Lychee kit and a 7 day raspberry jasmine kit... neither of the flavors are particularly enjoyable, but it's a helluva lot better than the wheat grass crap I was drinking. I guess Glowelle is a fancy way to get your vitamins... works for me.
12It gags me. Totally gags me. The thought of all of the antioxidants in it are great but I feel like I want to hurl after I have a few sips.
13The first time trying it I agree, not good. After trying the 2nd and 3rd day the taste didn't bother me and I liked it. You have to really shake it up and use at least 16oz of liquid. Notice I said liquid you don't have to put it in water. Lemonade or iced tea works good. I also put it in my smoothie a few times after a work out with oj, protein and frozen strawberries and bananas. That was the best. I have been using it for about 10 days and I like the results. Fighting Free radicals is worth the 50 calories and $4 a day (hey its less calories and cost then starbucks)
14I got a free sample via their facebook page. The fb page is filled with "glowing" reviews. No way does everyone *love* this drink. Ugh. I just tried my free sample. It's nasty. Thank goodness it was free. Ruined a whole bottle of water with it though. Sorry...it's just not good.
I posted the above to the fb page as well...let's see how long before it's deleted. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/Glowelle?ref=nf
