When I told you about the Halle Berry scent, you expected something sweet and floral. Well, today comes more news about the forthcoming fragrance, Halle by Halle Berry, due out in March. The scent, a woody oriental, and the bottle, meant to evoke the beach, were two years in the making. Berry tells WWD, "[Before my fragrance] I was mixing other brands that shall remain nameless to make my own scent with fig and mimosa,” she said. “With Halle, I added olibanum, which is an African root, which brings spice to the fragrance, and sandalwood, which smooths everything out and makes it yummy. It’s very sensual, very natural, very much reflective of the outdoors.”
Whether it's Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely or Paris Hilton's latest, celebrity fragrances are big business. generating a ton of cash both for the celebrity and the beauty company they work with. It's estimated that in 2006, worldwide sales of the top seven celebrity perfumes hit over $353 million dollars. Did you contribute to that number?

1Never. I would rather not wear any perfume at all than wear a celebrity fragrance. I'm a bit of a snob about perfume and frankly I'd be humiliated to own a perfume by Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.
2I'll sample anyone's perfume in the store, no matter whose name is on it, so of course I'll try this. I didn't care for SJP's perfumes, and the sugary-sweet ones (like britney's) make me gag. There are definately a few celeb perfumes that are nicely done. In fact I tried J Lo's Deseo yesterday, and kept smelling my wrist all afternoon. I think I'll be picking it up.
3I'm with bluesuze. I'll sample anyone's. I've been highly disappointed with some and love others. The only one I have is Unforgivable. I'll definitely try this one.

5I am not a snob when it comes to perfume. If it smells good, it smells good. Can't wait to smell Halle's! By the way check out Fancy by Jessica Simpson. Loves it!!
6I've never bought any celeb scents. I've heard that some are good, and if I genuinely liked the scent, I'd buy one. Every one I have sniffed in magazine ads has not been to my liking though. I'm pretty surprised Halle Berry has one. I think of these projects being for B and C listers looking for some easy money.
7The only celebrity fragrance I have is Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely and Covet. I usually stick to the designers fare (Chanel, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein). Oh, I also just bought Marc Jacobs Daisy and it smells like heaven!! Like another poster stated, I also would never, ever buy anything from the line of Paris Hilton or Britney Spears!
8I die for Armani scents. I'll take a sniff of celebrity stuff out of curiosity but nothing has lured me away yet.
9No I didn't buy any celebrity scents. I am crazy about "Estee Lauder's Beautiful". But I really want to see what "Halle" is about. If I like it I'll buy it.

11I would definitely try a sample. I will admit to owning Curious by Britney Spears; aside from the name, it is a scent I actually love. Hilary Duff has a nice fragrance too. However I do refuse to try or buy any Paris Hilton perfume; just no.
12I have Paris's first perfume, I really like it. I also at one point had J. Lo's Miami Glow, but I ran out of that awhile ago.
13I have SJP's "Lovely" and Paris' first fragrance. I'm actually less likely to try celebrity fragrances, but if I do get a whiff of something I like I'll buy it, celebrity or not.
14I can't STAND any of SJP's fragrances and I haven't really tried any of the other celebrity scents out there. I really like Burberry Brit and Davidoff Cool Water Woman...just my personal preference.
15The only celeb fragrance I like is Hilary Duff's. I have SJP's Lovely, but I barely use it. Mom loves it though. She also says that Paris' isn't as bad as you would think.
16Lovely is okay. Paris Hilton's perfume is nice even the latest Can Can is got a thumbs up from my mother. I get to test all these fragrances due to my working in a cosmetics and fragrance store so I get first dibs on all the new stuff.

20i actually don't buy celebrity perfumes...not because of any reason aside from the fact that i'm a bit partial to designers or the tried and true ones. i just bought the new marc jacobs daisy so i don't think that i'm going to be in the market to get SJPs, Christnas or anyone elses.
