Have You Ever Gotten Tattooed For Love?

We've all heard stories of celebrities who've undergone procedures to remove a tattoo dedicated to a former flame — Johnny Depp's "Winona Forever" and Angelina Jolie's "Billy Bob" tattoo being among the most famous. But for every breakup and subsequent tattoo removal process, I'm sure there are just as many couples whose relationship-inspired tattoos have withstood the test of time. I can't think of a more appropriate time than Valentine's Day to discuss the topic. If you have (or have had) a love tattoo, tell us all about it.

I have a tattoo on my wrist of "Beloved" in a cursive script. It's not for any guy... just for myself. I loved the use of the word in Beethoven's letters "Immortal Beloved", and how the word can be split to "be loved". I wouldn't get a man's name put anywhere on me. I don't care if we have been married 40 years.

funny story: I was getting my Ironman tattoo and joking to the tattoo artist that my husband wanted my name tattooed across his forehead. The tat artist was in the middle of telling us about how horrible names as tattoos are and how he often gets people wanting cover ups.... when the receptionist buzzed to see if he would have time later that day to do a cover up :P

i refuse to get people's names tattooed, but a few of my tattoos are for people. i have a tattoo for my fiance; it's an umbrella with the words "shelter from the storm". i also have a celtic cross for my mom

i would possibly get a tattoo of someone's initial but never a name. i did get a tattoo for love though, i got one for my grandmother, who raised me.

So I do have something, and we are still together. matching moon/star thingie....So if, in the unfortunate event my soul mate is not, in fact, my soul mate, its not the same. However, then, it would probably just depress me so much that i would wear shoes always as to not look at it on my foot. Overall decision, meh. It was a spur of the moment idea when passing a tattoo shop (his even, and his first tattoo!!) I like it, I love him, so whatev, its cool.

No, but I would consider it. You know, a tattoo to commemorate a relationship (be it boyfriend, best friend, mom, etc), but no names. Just some sort of relevant design or image. Oh, and definitely no portraits (I've seen some god-awful looking kids on people's arms).

NO, but I must confess hubby and I do have the same tattoo of something. No, it's not our names or anything to do with one another, wedding date or the like. It just the same. No, I'm not telling what it is. Happy :heart: Day!

God no. It's like the kiss of death for any relationship. The only time I would think it's ok is if you tattoo the name of your child.

No, but my ex did. :) He had my name tattooed on him. Thank goodness my name is short, and it was easily covered-up. LOL

I did it. I have my ex's zodiac sign tattooed on my ankle. He's the father of my kids and will always be a part of my life so I don't regret it one bit.
