How-To: Learn a Fishtail Braid
Sometimes called the herringbone, a fishtail braid is
yet another twist on the traditional plait. I think this style is easier to learn on someone else's hair — and better to explain with pictures than tell with words alone — so get a friend and get started with this step-by-step slide show.

I'm a big fan of the fishtail braid. I don't think it looks like poo. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to practice it on my mom, hahha!
4Thanks for posting, I've always loved these but I can't do anything beyond a basic braid! Now if I could only do this on myself...
5Love it! It's such a pretty way to dress up a simple braid.
6I always do fishtail braids in my hair. They're so much more interesting to look at than a normal braid and they're easy to do (as long as you have long hair).
7I prefer a looser Fishtail braid.
8I love it, but I think my hair is too thin
9Bella85, this is actually a great style for thin hair, if it's long enough. If you'll braid it a little loosely, then put a bit of hairspray or texturizer on your fingertips and lightly pull on it- like you're trying to pull each half away from the middle- it makes it look fuller and thicker.
