How-To: The Rope Braid
If you've ever seen a fraying rope, I'm betting you can guess how to recreate this braid. Made of three strands twisted and twisted again, it's a fun summertime hairstyle. Learn how to copy it on your head in this slideshow. Although it works best on very long hair of all one length, see it on shorter hair when you get started.

How funny...my hair is in a ponytail just like this in my 5th grade school picture (I'm now 27...LOL)!
1I love braiding my hair in summer because it keeps them out of my face when it's hot, but it feels more natural and chic than putting them in a pony tail. I'm a little skeptical about the rope braiding though, would it look too childish like it does in the picture?
2I plan to try this on my 8 year old today. I think it will look awesome with her waist length hair.
3It's easier with two strands instead of three, just twist them each in the same direction and then twist them together in the opposite direction. I like the way it looks better, you can make them looser and more casual rather than literally resembling a rope.
