I just saw this manicure yesterday tweeted from Modern Salon. I thought, "OK, sure, for clients," but this could also be one for the DIY'er. So I cleaned off my three-day-old salon pro manicure and pulled out my editorial nail kit. As recommended in the Modern Salon instructions, I chose three shades: Sally Hansen White Tip, Essie Splash of Grenadine, and OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.

awhile ago i was at Charlotte Russe and found 3 in one nail polish (a bottle with three layers - each a different color) it gives somewhat of the same look after application that this technique does, but i think i'll try it anyways...

Hi I tried this before! I have an idea: 1.Get 2 shades (I personally like the candy cane shade) white and light pink. 2. Dip the polish in the middle every time you drop a shade in the water. 3. Put your finger nail where the pink and white are mostly striped. 4. Get a toothpick and remove the excess. 5. Dip out and wollah, a candy cane nail polish!

Thanks for comments on my blog feature! Great to hear all the positive responses. FYI: I'm over 30 :) - I think colour choice would definitely come in to play for age, lifestyle and personality. For example, I stay clear of glittery frosty nail colours but love them on other people! i tried this...it worked and gave the right effect. however, i didn't like how it looked so barbie-ish so i took it off and repainted a solid color. it might have been my color choices (a violet and white) i think it's super for a younger girl, just not someone almost 30! :)
