How Do You Feel About Drawn-In Eyebrows?

Last night at the New York premiere of Hairspray, Liza Minnelli showed up to support her showbiz friends and to catch a viewing. Something I hadn't noticed before is that her eyebrows barely have any hair—perhaps the result of over-waxing, or just a style statement? What are your thoughts on drawn-in brows?

Some comments, to me, are quite cruel. Though I do have to say...I'm not sure why anyone would literally shave their eyebrows completely and prefer to pencil them in. That actually ticks me off because they should be happy to have them! I have dark hair but my eyebrows have always been really light. I over-plucked them when I was in middle school (oh believe me I regret it more than anything)....anyway I have little lines of hair but the rest HAS NOT grown back since. I'm sooo self conscious about my brows, they look awful. I pencil them in everyday, I have to say I've gotten better with time. I hate doing it, and yes I prefer not to but for now it's my only option. I think I look sillier when I don't pencil them in. Honestly, to the people who seem not to understand, what would you do if you had no eyebrows? Or hardly any to the point where you look like you had none? I considered tattooing at first, when I was 20 but didn't think it was the right thing to do. Now I'm looking into an eyebrow transplant, it'll take time to save up because it is quite costly....but it will be worth it because I'll actually have brows I should've had all along. As for Liza...she's rich so I don't get why she hasn't done brow restoration?

i hav drawn on browz. itz very ez, juz one swipe of a felt-tip liquid eyeliner over each eye n dun! perfektly kustomized browz!

Way too harsh. I overplucked years ago, and it took a LONG time to let them grow back in. You have to be very patient, and there is brow growth stimulator creme you can purchase to help you along. My brows are back, and I only get them professionally done now.

If you have ruined your natural brows or lost them due to illness then you have no choice but to draw or tattoo or you would draw alot of unwanted attention. I 've seen how Bold and down right Rude some people can be...Why, I still have not figured out. I think of it maybe like people who kill, it's because they do not believe in our Lord.

yep too dark and too thick changes the whole face a friend once tried to do sth like that on me and I got horrified looking at the mirror!She got them closer together and dakened, thickened etc.. I remember erasing them slightly before she came into the room again!lol

one of my close friends shaves hers off and draws it in. she says people call her 'chola' because of it, although they know she's white. i, personally, hate them. looks tacky and unnatural. love my friend despite her 'brows though. :)

Wow. I'm sort of amazed that there are so many people comments from people that don't realize how potentially rude it is to bash people whose eyebrows are "shaved off." They're not always shaved. There's a such thing as a DISEASE. Would you make fun of a woman who had a breast removed due to cancer? Same thing.

eyebrows are such a curious thing... i had a friend in hs who had terrible (natural) eyebrows. they looked.. really bad. so she had them waxed and tattooed on, which at first, looked ridiculous because they were so dark, but eventually, they lightened up and looked a lot better on her face than her natural ones. in fact.. i think a lot of asian women have tattooed eyebrows. looks good from far away, but up close, really.. weird and bald looking. i've played with a bunch of different eyebrow shapes on my own face, and as much as i wish i could tweeze and shade my eyebrows to match those glamorous arch stencils that come with the anastasia kits... they look ridiculous on me! completely drawn on eyebrows? a definite no if they come out too obvious, dark, and waxy. i definitely prefer filling in with a brow powder.

A friend of mine lost all her eyebrows when she was pregnant and they never grew back. It's really a shame because it looks so awful. I have very light hair on my brows so I need to darken it, but if my face looks different when I'm done it's too dark.

My eyes brows have bare spots and so I fill them in with a pencil and give them a nice natural shape that follows my natural arch. Sometimes I accidently go overboard but I try to keep it simple. I want Rogaine for them so they are just naturally thick. I'd kil for thick eyebrows, I bet by the time I am 30 they all will have fallen out. It sucks, but I am good with a pencil.

i knew girls in highschool who would shave their eyebrows and replace it with a cartoonish line. i always want to smudge them...

I don't think shaving off your eyebrows and replacing them with drawn-on ones is a good look for anyone, besides drag queens and amanda palmer: http://www.auralminority.com/Resources/dresden2a.jpeg I think her eyebrows are totally fabulous, and would totally try it, if I thought I could pull it off.

If you're using a brow kit and extra care, they shouldn't look drawn in. I remember seeing this lady who had them shaved off and tatooed on her face. It was not cute at all!

I had a bad waxing incident that literally stunted the ends of my brows from growing back in. They look "okay" but not enough where I feel confident enough to go out of the house without trying to fill them in with my MAC brow pencil a bit.I think shaving them off to draw them on is a little much but there are plenty of people in the world with just sparse or light brows who I think filling them in with pencil is perfectly acceptable.

I say only if you NEED to- if for some reason you don't have eyebrow hair (like Jennifer 76 mentioned of someone she knows) then a little defining is acceptable.I fill mine in a bit with a pencil but make sure to avoid the "drawn" effect.

Awful and then you run the rish of traumatizing those around you when you have a rough morning and forget to draw them. Humans don't look right with out eyebrows.
