The problem: It's the old adage: too much of a good thing ain't a good thing. Keep in mind that mascara is meant to darken and thicken lashes. That's it. It's not meant to double or triple lashes or create a whole new fringe. Lashes should frame the eyes, not overpower them. Imagine a beautiful painting is your eyes and your lashes are the frame. Would you want a beautifully lacquered frame, or one mounded with black paint, brushed on thick with drips and lumps?
The fix: Curl lashes and apply two brushed-through coats of mascara. Curl again (just a quick pump close to the lash line) after mascara dries to give your lashes a nice lift. Then use just a touch to darken the bottom.
