How Long Will You Wait at the Salon?

You probably accept the fact that there's often a wait at the doctor's office or at the mechanic's garage, but when it comes to waiting at the salon, what's your limit? I recently went into my salon for a quick bang trim — for which I had an appointment — and ended up waiting 30 minutes before my stylist came over. What about you? How long do you think is an acceptable amount of time to spend waiting for your appointment to begin?

I help manage an upscale salon and can definitely say if a stylist is running late it is usually due to a client running late not because they are being over booked, etc. What drives me crazy, is the client usually ends up taking it out on me, rather than their stylist!

its very true that its usually not the stylists fault. one person throws off the whole schedule... i have been that person a couple of times and felt sooo terrible about it. especially when the others figure out its your fault they're waiting! *scared*

Depends on how profusely they apologize! ;) Really, though, I'm okay with waiting a while, even 30 minutes, unless it happens every time I'm in the salon. I used to work in a doctor's office and saw how just one patient/client coming in late can ruin the whole day's schedule. Things happen and I'm usually cool with that. If I'm pressed for time I'll reschedule.

I rarely go to the salon now because of this issue, among other ones, like cost. But, if I do go, any more than fifteen minutes is a no-no for me.

The reality is that I will wait it out when I have an appointment because they are so hard to get, but really the wait shouldn't be more than 10-15 minutes. I've thought about calling before I leave to make sure she's not running late.

if i have an appointment and i show up on time, i expect to wait no more than 15 minutes.

Keep in mind that when a stylist is running late it's typically due to clients showing up late which throws off their whole day!

If I have an appointment, I expect a zero minute wait. If the salon or stylist is overbooking, that's really disrespectful of their clients and I won't ever go there again.
